The behind-the-scenes drama from It Ends with Us just keeps getting messier, with new revelations coming from Justin Baldoni’s Body Double.
Justin Baldoni’s body double, Thomas Canestraro, has spoken out about the vibe on set during filming, and let’s just say, it was far from relaxed. The tension between Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni, who both starred in and produced the 2024 romantic drama, seems to have spilled over to everyone else.
In a recent interview with The Daily Mail, Canestraro, 38, who worked closely on set, revealed that the entire filming experience was slower and more uncomfortable than usual. “You could tell that the set was tense. There was some discomfort from everybody,” he said. Filming reportedly took much longer than expected, and even Canestraro found himself confused by the delays, wondering, “What’s happening here? Why are we taking so much time to film all of this scene? Why are we not on schedule?”
Canestraro isn’t new to working with Blake Lively. He previously acted alongside her in the 2018 thriller A Simple Favor, where, according to him, she was way more approachable and relaxed. This time, however, it was a different story. “She seemed more closed off,” he shared, hinting that something clearly wasn’t right during the shoot.
A source close to Lively backed up his observation, telling PEOPLE that it’s no surprise she appeared withdrawn on set, especially considering the serious allegations she’s made. In December 2024, Lively filed a sexual harassment complaint against Baldoni, accusing him of misconduct during the movie’s production. She also claimed that he and his team launched a retaliatory smear campaign aimed at destroying her reputation, something Baldoni has firmly denied.
Things escalated quickly. Just a month later, in January, Baldoni hit back with a $400 million lawsuit against Lively, her husband Ryan Reynolds, and her longtime publicist Leslie Sloane. His claims? Extortion, defamation, and a few other major accusations thrown in for good measure.
Caught in the middle of it all is Canestraro, who says he doesn’t want to pick sides. “I don’t want to be on any team,” he said. “I hope they can find an agreement.” Still, he acknowledged the weight of what’s unfolding, adding, “At the same time, you can’t discredit anybody’s feelings, and anybody’s experience.”
While fans were eagerly waiting for It Ends with Us to finally hit screens, the real-life courtroom drama might end up overshadowing the movie itself. The lawsuits in Lively v. Wayfarer Studios et al. are set to go to trial in March 2026, which means this public feud is far from over.
The film may have wrapped, but the fallout is just beginning. With new details surfacing from people who were actually on set, it’s becoming clearer just how much stress and tension plagued the production. What should’ve been a heartfelt adaptation of Colleen Hoover’s bestselling novel has turned into a legal firestorm, and people in Hollywood are definitely taking notes.
Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni may have been the stars of the film, but now their names are at the center of a headline-grabbing battle that could reshape their careers. Whether they ever work together again is anyone’s guess, but one thing’s for sure, the set of It Ends with Us wasn’t the love story fans imagined.
