Brad Pitt is back on the big screen, and this time he’s speeding into cinemas with a renewed passion for his craft.
The 61-year-old actor stars in F1, a high-stakes racing drama set to premiere on 28 June 2025, and according to him, the experience has “reinvigorated” his love for acting.
In a recent interview with GQ, Pitt opened up about how he was beginning to question his place in the industry after decades in the spotlight. “Man, I’ve been doing this for a while and was wondering: Do I have more stories to tell? Do I have anything to add to this? Is there still any excitement I can find from this?” he said. But working on F1 changed that. “It just reinvigorated the whole thing again for me.”
Directed by Joseph Kosinski and produced by Jerry Bruckheimer, Lewis Hamilton, and Pitt himself, F1 follows the story of Sonny Hayes, a retired Formula One driver who returns to the sport to mentor a young prodigy, played by Damson Idris. The star-studded cast includes Kerry Condon, Tobias Menzies, and Javier Bardem.
To deliver a realistic feel, the production team went the extra mile by filming at real Grand Prix events like the British Grand Prix at Silverstone. The film also features close collaboration with all ten Formula One teams and their drivers. Pitt’s commitment to authenticity was clear, and it’s part of what brought the excitement back for him.
Aside from F1, Pitt has been busy with another project, Heart of the Beast. This action-adventure film is directed by David Ayer and shot in the stunning wilderness of Queenstown, New Zealand. Pitt plays a former Navy SEAL stranded in the Alaskan wild, navigating survival and redemption. The movie also stars J.K. Simmons and Anna Lambe.
Spending nearly three months in New Zealand, Pitt embraced the isolation and intensity of the role. It’s clear that the actor is drawn to gritty, physical performances that challenge him, another reason why he seems more fired up about acting than he’s been in years.
Despite a long history of media scrutiny, Pitt told GQ he feels “warm and secure” these days, thanks to a solid group of loved ones who keep him grounded. That sense of personal peace seems to be fueling a fresh chapter in his career.
The NYC premiere of F1 is set for 16 June 2025, with the London event following on 23 June at Leicester Square. Its official release ties in with the 2025 Austrian Grand Prix, adding a real-world racing buzz to the film’s launch.
For Pitt, F1 isn’t just another movie, it’s a powerful reminder of why he fell in love with storytelling in the first place. And by the looks of it, he’s just getting started again.
