Charlie Sheen is speaking out about his troubled relationship with daughter Sami Sheen, explaining that he wishes the two could one day reconnect.
The Two and a Half Men actor discussed his estrangement from his 21-year-old daughter, whom he has with ex-wife Denise Richards, on Good Morning America on September 5.
As long as everyone’s still in the game, there’s always a chance for a better tomorrow,” Sheen, 58, said, acknowledging that he remains unclear on the specific reason for their split. “I really don’t know what I did, that’s the issue. I don’t know what I’m supposed to apologize for.
Sheen has two kids with Richards, Sami and 20-year-old Lola, and is also a dad to Cassandra, 40, with ex Paula Profit, and twins Bob and Max, 16, with ex-wife Brooke Mueller. Though he does not know what caused the rift, Sheen was optimistic that they will be back together in time.
“I have full belief that this is not an eternity thing,” he went on. “Her and I will figure it out. We have a history of doing that that’s too precious to let some moment derail all of that.”
As for her, Sami has herself been open about the deterioration of their relationship. In April, the OnlyFans star gave her account of events on Gia Giudice’s Casual Chaos podcast.
As Sami puts it, she and her father had become estranged due to his hectic work schedule, with very little time for talking. “He was doing his own thing and pretty busy, so we weren’t even that close anymore,” she said.
But the tensions escalated further when Sheen did not reach out after she was recovering from nose surgery. “I was so angry that he couldn’t even call me or anything to check if I survived surgery,” she said.
It began as a messaging exchange and soon turned into hostile messages, which led Sami to block him. “I’ve had him blocked for about a minute now,” she said, further mentioning that she also blocked his email and eventually a fresh phone number he sent to contact her. “I had to stop it and say to him, ‘Do not ever contact me again because this is insane.'”
With the present silence between them, Sheen hopes that the relationship with his daughter is not irretrievably lost. From his recent statements, it seems he’s willing to make amends and take steps toward reconciliation, even though it will take some time.
