Erin Andrews just shared some deeply heartbreaking news, her surrogate has suffered a miscarriage.
The 47-year-old sports broadcaster, who hadn’t publicly announced that she and husband Jarret Stoll were expecting another child, opened up about the loss during her podcast Calm Down with Erin and Charissa.
Andrews revealed the miscarriage happened despite promising early signs. “We got some real s***** news today that our surrogate had miscarried,” she said during the May 22 episode. “I have dealt with this before, but things were going really, really well. Her little heartbeat and her numbers were really good, so much so I even told you guys a couple weeks ago because we thought we had such good news.”
The Fox Sports personality didn’t hold back on how devastating the news has been. While speaking to her producer Ryan Musick, she admitted it was hard to stay focused on the episode and keep her emotions in check. “I’ve just been tearing up the whole time and trying to stay focused,” she said. “But I’m also really, really good at suppressing my feelings, and work really helps me with that.”
She even mentioned Taylor Swift’s song I Can Do It with a Broken Heart, calling it a fitting soundtrack to how she’s been coping. “I’m really good at doing this s*** with a broken heart,” she admitted. Still, Ryan had offered to cancel or postpone the podcast, but Erin insisted on continuing, saying it was important to stick to her promise of honesty.
This isn’t the first time Erin Andrews has faced this kind of loss. She’s been open about her struggles with infertility in the past, sharing that she and Jarret previously had a failed experience with another surrogate. Their second journey brought them their son Mack, now two years old. “I think I kinda made a promise to myself that when I was really open with how s***** infertility has been and our journey with two surrogates… I was just going to be honest with people,” she explained.
Andrews continued, “This really, really sucks, but so many people are dealing with it. So if you feel alone and you feel like a failure, I do too. But you’re not the only one.” She wanted to remind others in similar situations that they’re not alone, no matter how isolating it can feel.
Despite the rawness of the moment, Erin expressed gratitude for the child she does have. “It makes you really realize when I have my little boy, and today he was throwing a fit royale with us, it’s like, you know what? It doesn’t matter.” That perspective, though painful to arrive at, is helping her move forward one step at a time.
She acknowledged this part of the journey might be the most difficult yet, telling Jarret, “This is like the hardest part. But I just didn’t want to be back here in the loss column.” Still, even in the middle of heartbreak, Erin Andrews is choosing openness, honesty, and resilience, something that continues to make her voice matter far beyond the sidelines.
