Hailey Might Sue Justin and He’s Totally Cool With It

Justin Bieber has finally spoken up about the awkward legal clash between him and his wife, Hailey Bieber, and yes, it’s over phone cases.

Last month, Justin introduced his new lifestyle brand, Skylrk, and fans were quick to spot that one of his first product designs looked… oddly familiar. Turns out, it closely resembled the signature Rhode Beauty phone case, designed and patented by Hailey herself. Now, the Skylark founder finds himself in a tricky spot, if he wants to keep moving forward with the design, he’ll need Hailey’s official blessing.

The whole situation started when Justin first teased Skylrk’s phone cases. One design had a bump on the back, not too suspicious at first. But then came the new version, featuring a clear cutout meant to hold a joint. That’s when fans really started connecting the dots. Hailey’s Rhode Beauty case, which features a back cutout designed to hold a lip product, clearly inspired Justin’s latest prototype. The problem? Hailey patented that exact kind of case.

In a rare moment of social media honesty, Justin broke his silence on Instagram this week, addressing the legal drama head-on. “Hailey, as we know, innovated something that has now become a staple in culture with her @rhode peptide lip phone case,” he wrote. “Turns out she has this tech patented, so if I want to make this case, I’ll have to pay her a fee. If she even approves me to make this, lmfao.”

That last part wasn’t a joke. Justin shared a behind-the-scenes look at the mold for the new case and tagged his wife directly, basically begging for approval. “Working on the moldingggggggggggggg. Please approve this idea, Hailey,” he pleaded in the caption.

Despite the legal boundaries, the vibe between the couple seems playful, not hostile. Hailey replied to Justin’s post with a simple, cheeky “I’ll think about it!” The comment racked up more than 50,000 likes, with fans eager to see whether the Rhode founder will greenlight her husband’s case concept.

For now, Justin appears to be hedging his bets. He also shared an alternative version of the phone case, this one minus the joint holder in the back, likely a backup in case Hailey puts her foot down. But judging from her response, it sounds like there’s at least a small chance she might let this slide.

What’s ironic is that Justin Bieber and Hailey Bieber are usually on the same team, professionally and personally. But when patents and product rights enter the chat, even power couples have to draw some boundaries. Hailey’s Rhode Beauty phone case has become an instantly recognizable accessory and a clever way to merge tech with beauty. It’s no surprise she went ahead and protected the design legally.

And now Justin, maybe unintentionally, has wandered into that IP territory. Whether it ends in a collaboration or a denied request remains to be seen. For fans, though, the public back-and-forth is nothing short of hilarious, especially seeing the global pop icon essentially negotiating with his own wife on Instagram.

At the very least, this Justin Bieber and Hailey Bieber legal issue is shining a new light on how product innovation works inside a celebrity marriage. Even when it’s playful, the business side still has rules.
