How the Justin Baldoni Lawsuit Is Affecting Ryan Reynolds’ Businesses

Ryan Reynolds has finally spoken up, kind of, about the lawsuit drama involving Justin Baldoni, and it seems the noise surrounding the battle is knocking on the doors of his many business ventures.

In a new profile for the TIME100 Companies issue published June 26, the Deadpool & Wolverine star got real about how the swirling headlines, especially those tied to his wife Blake Lively’s sexual harassment complaint against Baldoni, are impacting both his personal and professional worlds.

While Ryan Reynolds didn’t dive deep into the details of the Justin Baldoni lawsuit, he didn’t shy away from the bigger picture. When asked if the online firestorm had hit his bottom line, he responded, “I can read something that says, ‘He should be drawn and quartered.’ I could read something that says I should win a Nobel Prize. Both are meaningless.” At 48, he’s choosing to focus on the middle ground, adding, “None of us are comprised of our best moments. None of us are defined by our worst moments.”

The backstory? Blake Lively filed a sexual misconduct complaint against Baldoni in December 2024 over behavior on the set of It Ends with Us. In return, Baldoni filed a massive $400 million countersuit in January, accusing Lively, Reynolds, and their team of extortion and defamation. The entire saga took a sharp turn on June 9 when a federal judge dismissed both Baldoni’s countersuit and his case against The New York Times for its coverage of Lively’s original complaint.

Despite this, Reynolds kept his answer tight. “Accessibility and accountability are a big part of how I do things… The people that I work with know me, so there’s never a question of anything like that,” he said. “If you operate with some degree of core values and integrity, they’re going to help you up. If you’re an a–hole, they’re not. And that’s pretty simple.”

The couple, especially during the TIME interview, made it clear they don’t want to keep feeding the legal drama. Lively even popped in briefly to offer snacks during the interview. But Reynolds did touch on how he’s dealt with chaos before, referencing conflict resolution training he took in his 20s. “You can empathize, you can validate,” he explained. “You don’t have to blindly agree or win or lose.”

Reynolds’ business empire is as headline-worthy as his acting career. He’s a powerhouse behind Mint Mobile, Wrexham AFC, Maximum Effort, and more. So when scandals make noise, it matters. But he insists the real proof lies with the people who know him best, his colleagues.

Meanwhile, Baldoni was given the chance to amend some claims, but as of June 25, his team announced they’re not going that route and are instead “pursuing additional legal options.” The court drama isn’t over, either. A judge recently denied Blake Lively’s request to keep her texts with Taylor Swift, regarding It Ends with Us, out of Baldoni’s reach. The case Lively v. Wayfarer Studios et al. is heading to trial in March 2026.

As things heat up behind the scenes, Reynolds is playing it calm, cool, and calculated, focusing on business, family, and staying far from the courtroom spotlight.
