Okay, so my sister and I were just scrolling through Amazon Prime Video, only to come to the realization that Nicole Kidman kept appearing on our screen, repeatedly.
It seemed like every other video recommendation featured the Australian-born actress, from the silver screen to the small screen alike.
Whether she’s playing a sexually submissive CEO for a massive corporation in “Babygirl,” or the wealthy wife in a murder mystery a-la “The Perfect Couple,”/ “The Undoing,”/ “Big Little Lies,” it appears as though Nicole Kidman is unstoppable. Just recently, she starred alongside “Succession” alum Matthew MacFadyen in the thriller, “Holland.” Before that, she was seen in “A Family Affair” with Zac Efron. And before that, Kidman nailed it as the quirky spiritual guide in “Nine Perfect Strangers.” Furthermore, let us not forget her iconic/campy AMC movie trailers!
But honestly, if I were to go on listing all the projects Nicole Kidman’s tackled in the 2020s alone, this article would be longer than “War and Peace.” Comedian Nikki Glaser even made a cheeky remark about the sheer volume of movies and TV shows Kidman can add to her portfolio of work, quipping that she’s simply spending so much time on set in order to avoid her hubby, Keith Urban. “Thank you, Nicole, for working so hard!” Glaser said at the Golden Globes. “And thank you, Keith Urban, for playing guitar around the house so much that she wants to leave and make 18 movies a year. Keep strumming, you kooky Koala.”
So let’s cut to the chase: Why is Nicole Kidman in so many movies and shows lately?
While it’s great to see the 57-year-old actress dominating the box office with her plethora of top-charting performances, some fans are curious as to why she’s on such an ambitious kick lately. Is it simply a deep love of acting that’s keeping Kidman coming back for more? Or is there more to it?
Why is the ‘Babygirl’ Star Appearing in So Many Film and TV Projects?
If you’re like me, and you’ve been wondering why Nicole Kidman is everywhere lately, there’s actually a pretty admirable reason behind her strong work ethic. According to the talented actress, it’s a combination of passion for the art form, as well as an opportunity to give people in the industry more work.
Kidman revealed to Variety that it would make her feel uncomfortable to take a break from working, since she’d be putting her own needs over the needs of up-and-coming people in the entertainment industry, who could really use the gig. “It’s very hard for me to go, ‘Okay, I’m just going to take care of myself,’ because I’m so much about taking care of other people,” the Big Little Lies star revealed. “I’m thinking, ‘I can create more work for people. I can create jobs for people.’ And also, I love it. I have the passion. I’ve just got to take care of my body. I wish I had superpowers because I would love to be everywhere.”
