It’s official: ‘House of the Dragon’ Season 3 has begun filming, and the fire is far from dying out.
Production is now underway at Leavesden Studios in London, with HBO confirming that the epic Game of Thrones prequel will return with eight new episodes. This next chapter continues the bloody, politically charged saga of House Targaryen, as Westeros inches closer to all-out civil war in the wake of Season 2’s climactic battles.
Season 3 of House Of The Dragon isn’t just a continuation, it’s also introducing some new, very hyped faces. Dan Fogler joins the cast as Ser Torrhen Manderly, head of House Manderly and staunch supporter of Rhaenyra. Tommy Flanagan (best known for ‘Sons of Anarchy’) will play Ser Roderick Dustin, aka ‘Roddy the Ruin,’ a gritty northern lord ready to bring chaos to the realm. Expect these new players to shake up the power dynamics in serious ways.
Filming is expected to run through October 2025, giving fans a long runway of behind-the-scenes teases and sneak peeks to obsess over. HBO has confirmed the season premiere is slated for 2026, with showrunners planning for Season 4 to be the final installment of the series.
Given the success of the first two seasons and the massive viewership that continues to follow the Dance of the Dragons, Season 3 promises to deliver even more fire-breathing spectacle, betrayal, and heartbreak. As the show draws closer to its endgame, tensions will rise, alliances will shift, and no character, no matter how beloved, is safe.
The fight for the Throne is far from over.
