Jennifer Lawrence’s ‘Die My Love’ Scores $24M Global Distribution Deal at Cannes

Jennifer Lawrence’s new movie Die My Love has made headlines at the 2025 Cannes film market by landing a massive $24 million global distribution deal, the largest acquisition at the event this year.

The deal was secured by streaming service Mubi and includes North American rights, making it a major win for everyone involved in the project.

Directed by You Were Never Really Here filmmaker Lynne Ramsay, Die My Love co-stars Robert Pattinson and premiered in competition at Cannes. The film was introduced at the festival by 193, a new sales company launched by Legendary and helmed by industry heavyweight Patrick Wachsberger.

In a statement, Wachsberger said, “Securing global sales on four high-profile films, one of which already had a successful premiere, affirms the strength of our storytelling and the trust our global partners have placed in us. This is a fantastic start for our company.”

Aside from the Mubi deal, Die My Love also sold rights in dozens of territories including the Baltics, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Israel, Japan, the Middle East, Mongolia, the Philippines, Poland, Portugal, Scandinavia, and Serbia, Croatia, and Montenegro. It’s clear the film’s buzz at Cannes translated into real global interest.

193’s Cannes debut wasn’t just about one project either. The company came in strong with a slate of major titles, signaling its ambition to make waves in the international film space.

One of those titles was Scandalous!, a biographical romance that explores the real-life relationship between Kim Novak and Sammy Davis Jr. Directed by first-timer Colman Domingo, it stars Sydney Sweeney and David Jonsson. That film sold in key markets like Australia, New Zealand, Greece, Spain, and the U.K.

Another title that attracted buyers was The Surgeon, written and directed by former oncologist Roshan Sethi and starring Michelle Yeoh. The project marked a reunion for Sethi, Wachsberger, and producer Basil Iwanyk, who previously worked together on John Wick. Territories like Australia, New Zealand, Israel, South Africa, and the Philippines have already picked it up.

Rounding out the slate is the new take on cult favorite The Toxic Avenger, a dark comedy remake with a wild cast including Peter Dinklage, Kevin Bacon, and Elijah Wood. It was quickly snatched up in countries like Germany, Austria, Japan, Italy, and Britain.

With Die My Love leading the way and other titles gaining traction fast, 193 has kicked off its entry into the film sales world with impact. Between Jennifer Lawrence’s star power, Cannes buzz, and strategic global deals, this could be a sign of much bigger things to come for the new sales outfit.
