Jodie Sweetin and Andrea Barber Tease Hilarious Full House Revival Possibility

Jodie Sweetin and Andrea Barber are giving fans major hope for a new Full House series, teasing the idea that a sequel could be in the cards-just with a fresh, hilarious twist.

On their rewatch podcast, How Rude, Tanneritos!, the longtime friends didn’t completely shut down the idea of another series after Fuller House, which aired from 2016 to 2020. Barber said, “Never say never,” while Sweetin, 43, added that although it’s “too soon,” she’d absolutely be down for a comeback. But this time, they’re imagining something more grown-up, think “bawdy” and “Golden Girls”-esque”, with the original characters now navigating life in their later years.

Sweetin pointed out how the kids who watched Fuller House are now in their 20s, possibly raising their own kids, which means the whole family could move up a generation. She envisions the three main women-Stephanie Tanner (Sweetin), D.J. Tanner (Candace Cameron Bure), and their quirky neighbor Kimmy Gibbler (Barber), living together in a retirement community, sharing a golf cart, and stirring up fun in their golden years. Barber chimed in, imagining Kimmy as the resident party planner, decking out the place with banners and running the retirement committee. Sweetin joked about how the place would be “lousy with banners everywhere,” capturing the playful vibe fans might expect.

Barber also shared how challenging it is to think about focusing on the kids again, like a “Full House” series would, since the original audience is more invested in seeing what happens to the OG characters themselves. “Yeah, they would want to see us in the retirement home,” Sweetin agreed, adding that the idea feels right for the moment.

The duo’s playful banter made it clear they love the characters and the fans who still adore them after all these years. Sweetin encouraged fans to “just keep hanging on-just for another 15 or 20 years” while keeping that enthusiasm alive. “It just means the world that you guys still love these characters so much that you still want to see what happens to them,” she added sincerely.

This nostalgia trip is more than just fun for Sweetin and Barber-it’s deeply personal. Barber reflected in a past interview with PEOPLE how Full House was a formative part of their lives, shaping their childhood for eight years. The podcast, she said, helps renew interest in the show and deepens the bond between her and Sweetin as they revisit memories from decades ago.

Fans of the Tanner family should definitely keep their fingers crossed. Whether it’s a wild new sitcom set in a retirement community or another twist on the Full House universe, Jodie Sweetin and Andrea Barber’s hints suggest we might not be done with these beloved characters just yet.
