Joe Jonas is getting real about life after divorce, and he’s giving nothing but love and respect to his ex, Sophie Turner.
The 35-year-old pop star and the 29-year-old Game of Thrones actress may have ended their marriage in 2024, but their bond as co-parents seems stronger than ever. Joe recently spoke about their parenting journey during an appearance on Jay Shetty’s On Purpose Live Tour, where he gushed over Sophie, calling her “an incredible mom.”
Joe and Sophie share two daughters, Willa, who’s now four, and Delphine, two. Even though their marriage didn’t last, Joe says what came after has been something he’s truly grateful for. “I have a beautiful co-parenting relationship that I’m really grateful for. Having an incredible mom, Sophie, for those girls is like a dream come true,” he shared with Shetty, clearly still full of admiration for his ex-wife.
Co-parenting might not be the easiest road, especially under the spotlight, but Joe and Sophie seem to be figuring it out in the healthiest way possible. Joe opened up about what he hopes for their daughters, explaining, “As young girls, looking up to great women is what I want for them. I think what values I want for them are to be open-minded and have a big heart, be able to walk into any room and feel confidence and know that they can do literally anything they want.”
Despite the breakup, it’s clear there’s still mutual support. Sophie recently gave Joe a public nod after he released his post-divorce solo album, Music for People Who Believe in Love. The actress didn’t write a long caption or go into detail, but sometimes, a simple gesture says it all. She shared a link to his album on Instagram with a message that read: “Go go @joejonas.” That was it, short and sweet, but definitely supportive.
Joe’s new music isn’t just about catchy hooks, it’s emotional, reflective, and deeply personal. Speaking to Billboard in 2024, he opened up about why he decided to pour his feelings into this record. “It was scary at times, and also freeing. I’m not trying to come for anyone on this album. I’m not trying to put stuff on blast, I’m a happy person, and the music needed to resemble that, but also, the journey to get here,” he said. His songs, shaped by heartbreak and healing, reflect the ups and downs of his journey since the divorce.
He also talked about how music became his therapy. With everything going on, from the end of his marriage to stepping into single fatherhood, Joe leaned on songwriting to process it all. “I was going through a lot of life changes, finding out who I was as a person and father and friend, and living under the microscope of what the music industry can be,” he explained. “At such a crazy time in my life, I looked to music as an outlet.”
Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner were married for five years, from 2019 to 2024, and their relationship had its fair share of public scrutiny. But if Joe’s recent comments say anything, it’s that respect and teamwork haven’t left the picture. He’s proud of their co-parenting dynamic and even more proud that their daughters have Sophie as their mom. It’s not every day you hear a celeb speak so warmly about an ex, but Joe Jonas proves you can split up and still show up.
