John Krasinski is gearing up to return as everyone’s favorite CIA analyst in a brand-new Jack Ryan movie-and this time, the action is dialed way up.
The actor, now 45, has confirmed that the upcoming film will deliver the high-stakes, cinematic thrills fans didn’t get to see in the Prime Video series.
Speaking with Collider, Krasinski shared his excitement about bringing Jack Ryan to the big screen. “We were so excited to do a movie,” he said. “As much as the longform storytelling was a whole different ballgame to play in, it’s really fun to reduce it down and condense the timeline and therefore the tension. So, we’re getting to do all the big fun action movie stuff that we didn’t get to do in a television show.”
The Jack Ryan movie is currently filming in Dubai, with Krasinski sharing behind-the-scenes updates via Instagram. Dressed in full Jack Ryan gear, he posted, “So. Good. To be. Back! #JackRyanMovie is off and running!!! HUGE thank you to all the inCREDible folks here in Dubai for letting us kickoff in epic fashion in your beautiful city! Here we go!!”
Krasinski isn’t returning alone. Fan-favorites Wendell Pierce and Michael Kelly are back as CIA operative James Greer and Agent Mike November, respectively. The movie is also welcoming a new face to the franchise-Horizon: An American Saga star Sienna Miller will portray an MI6 agent who teams up with Ryan on what promises to be another globe-trotting mission.
Behind the scenes, the Jack Ryan movie is helmed by Andrew Bernstein, who directed several episodes during the show’s second season. The script is written by Aaron Rabin, a veteran of the series’ fourth season. Krasinski is also producing the film through his Sunday Night Productions banner, alongside Allyson Seeger and Andrew Form.
Described as “the next evolutionary step” of the Jack Ryan series, the film is expected to raise the stakes and speed up the pace. After the TV series concluded in 2023, Krasinski hinted that the movie would take a different approach-less slow-burn tension, more adrenaline-pumping spectacle.
For fans who followed the Prime Video series through all four seasons, the movie will be a fresh yet familiar ride-with returning characters, new alliances, and explosive new threats. The TV show may have ended with emotional goodbyes, but the Jack Ryan film is clearly all about pushing the action to the next level.
With principal photography already underway, it looks like fans won’t have to wait long to see Krasinski’s Jack Ryan back in action-this time, bigger and bolder than ever.
