John Stamos Blasts Lori Loughlin’s Ex Mossimo Giannulli: “He Dragged Her Into That Scandal”

John Stamos isn’t holding back when it comes to his feelings about Lori Loughlin’s ex-husband, Mossimo Giannulli.

During a recent appearance on Josh Peck’s Good Guys podcast, the Full House alum opened up about the infamous college admissions scandal that landed both Loughlin and Giannulli behind bars, making it clear who he believes was truly at fault.

Stamos, 61, recalled the morning the news first broke about the scandal, revealing that he had spoken to Loughlin, who seemed completely unaware of what was unfolding. He described how she appeared confused and caught off guard as headlines exploded about their alleged involvement in the scheme. According to Stamos, it was Giannulli who was primarily responsible for the situation that spiraled out of control and led to Loughlin’s imprisonment.

“She’s not a liar. She’s a saint,” Stamos said, defending his longtime friend and Full House co-star. “She didn’t deserve to be dragged through that. I know for a fact it was all him.” He went on to add that even their daughters, Olivia Jade and Isabella Rose, had little to do with the scandal, saying the blame rested squarely on Giannulli’s shoulders.

The Full House star claimed that Loughlin’s character and kindness stood out even during her time in prison. After serving two months behind bars at a facility in Dublin, California, in late 2020, Loughlin reportedly came out of the experience with grace and empathy. Stamos recalled asking her about her time there, to which she responded, “You know, I met a lot of nice ladies in there, we have a book club.”

“That’s her!” Stamos said with admiration. “Even after all of that, she still finds the good in people. She didn’t deserve what happened to her.”

Loughlin and Giannulli both pleaded guilty in 2020 to charges stemming from their involvement in the Varsity Blues college admissions scandal. The couple admitted to paying $500,000 to secure spots for their daughters Olivia Jade, now 26, and Isabella Rose, 27, at the University of Southern California. Both daughters were admitted to USC as crew team recruits, despite having never participated in the sport.

Loughlin served her two-month prison sentence before being released in December 2020, while Giannulli served around two weeks of home confinement in April 2021 after completing his own sentence. The scandal, which rocked Hollywood and the academic world alike, led to a wave of criticism and public scrutiny for the family.

Since then, both daughters have attempted to move forward with their lives, with Olivia Jade making appearances on Dancing With the Stars and maintaining her influencer career. Meanwhile, Loughlin has slowly returned to acting, taking on roles in projects such as When Hope Calls, a spinoff of her former Hallmark series When Calls the Heart.

Stamos’ comments add a new layer to the ongoing public conversation about the scandal, painting Loughlin as more of a victim of circumstance than a co-conspirator. While Giannulli has stayed largely silent since their split earlier this month, Stamos’ defense of his co-star suggests his loyalty to Loughlin remains unwavering.

In revisiting one of Hollywood’s biggest scandals of the past decade, Stamos’ remarks have reignited public debate about who was truly responsible and how much Loughlin should be blamed. For now, it seems the actor wants to make one thing clear – in his eyes, Lori Loughlin didn’t deserve to take the fall.
