Kanye West’s name change drama isn’t over just yet.
After legally switching to “Ye” in 2021, the rapper-turned-fashion mogul has now made another unexpected move, he’s changed his name again. According to newly filed legal documents in California, Kanye is now officially going by “Ye Ye.” Yes, double Ye. This update popped up in a “Statement of Information” submitted to the State of California for his key businesses. The forms were filed by his CFO, Hussain Lalani, and confirm that “Ye Ye” is now how the controversial star is formally listed.
This isn’t just a random change on paper. His major companies, including Ox Paha Inc., Yeezy Apparel, Getting Out Our Dreams Inc., and Yeezy Record Label LLC, are now using “Ye Ye” in their official filings. That includes the paperwork related to trademarks, financial reports, and headquarters registrations. It’s a big switch from the earlier documents where he was labeled “Ye West.” Now the halo that once followed his brand seems to be evolving, or unraveling, depending on how you look at it.
Despite the legal shift, Kanye hasn’t made any big public statement about the new name on social media. But those close to his business moves are already treating “Ye Ye” as the real deal. His wife, Bianca Censori, seems to be following in his entrepreneurial footsteps. She recently registered her own business, Bianca Censori Inc., in California and even filed her full name as a company based in her hometown of Alphington, a suburb in Melbourne, Australia.
Another major update? Kanye’s businesses are no longer tied to that burnt-down church in Northridge, Los Angeles. That building, once used as the headquarters for his various ventures, caught fire in October after being abandoned. Now, Ox Paha Inc. and the other firms have moved their HQs to a $6.7 million office space on Melrose Avenue in West Hollywood, which Ye bought back in March 2023. But the new place isn’t exactly thriving either, it’s reportedly been left in bad shape and recently made headlines when someone graffitied a swastika on the side of the building. This disturbing incident came after Ye made several antisemitic comments online, and it triggered a police response.
Ye’s attitude toward his identity has gotten even more intense lately. Just last month, he stormed out of an interview with Piers Morgan after the British host referred to him as “Kanye West.” That didn’t sit well with Ye, who made it clear that using his birth name was completely off-limits. Piers later recapped the chaotic moment, writing, “I interviewed Kanye West again today. As I expected, given what I’ve said about him recently, it didn’t last long or go well. This was him right before he stomped off like a big baby before I could ask him why he’s become a vile, Hitler-loving, Nazi-slathering, anti-Semitic pr**k.” Ouch.

The beef didn’t stop there. A Ye fan account on X (formerly Twitter) called out Piers for triggering the walkout, noting, “Piers Morgan calling him ‘Kanye West’ is exactly why Ye left the interview.” Piers clapped back by pointing out that Ye’s handle on the app is still @kanyewest. But not for long, it seems. On June 1, Ye announced that he’d finally stop using the old handle and start fresh. “I’m finally going to stop using the @kanyewest Twitter because my name is Ye… Gonna start a Ye account, and it is what it is,” he wrote.
Ima finally stop using the @kanyewest twitter cause my name is Ye
Gonna start a ye account and it is what it is

So what’s the takeaway here? Kanye West’s name-change antics continue to be as unpredictable as his career. From Ye to Ye Ye, from churches to graffiti-tagged offices, from music to mayhem, he’s always reinventing something, even if it’s just his name.
