Karlie Kloss has opened up about her relationship with husband Joshua Kushner, calling him her “biggest champion” as they juggle marriage, motherhood, and life together.
The 33-year-old supermodel, who is currently pregnant with their third child, shared rare insights into their life on the Aspire podcast, revealing how Joshua has been her strongest supporter since they started dating when she was just 19 years old.
Karlie said, “Josh, my husband, we’ve been together since I was 19. We’ve grown up together. He’s always been my biggest champion.” She highlighted how Joshua’s support has been vital, especially while adjusting to motherhood. “He’s been somebody who’s like, ‘Karlie, you cannot lose yourself. You will not be happy, and then our children will feel that.’ That’s something I so appreciate, that he has been my mirror in that way.”
Their love story started young. Karlie revealed, “We started dating so young. I was 19. He was 25 or 26. He was very early in his career. I like to remind him that I was far more successful than he was for a very long time!” she joked. Despite the age gap and different career stages, she fell hard for his kindness. “I never met anyone like him before. He was such a kind man,” she said.
Karlie was already living an adult life at a young age, juggling modeling and school, with lots of international travel. “I was still a girl, but I had lived this very adult, worldly life since I was 15. I had my first apartment in New York. I’d traveled to New York, London, Tokyo, Paris, everywhere, while juggling my high school education.” Meeting Joshua after moving to New York felt like fate. “I had just moved to New York, and I was really lucky to meet [him]. I never could have imagined I’d meet the love of my life at 19.”
Karlie and Joshua’s family keeps growing, they already have two boys, Levi, four, and Elijah, 19 months, and they announced in March that they are expecting their third child. Karlie told Vogue.com, “Family is everything to me. Josh and I are incredibly grateful for this blessing.”
Motherhood has deeply changed Karlie’s perspective on life. She described it as a “profound experience” on the Today show and admitted she had “no idea” what to expect before having kids. “I just had this moment of like, ‘Wow, every woman who has a child, every parent goes through this.’ It’s just the most profound experience that I had no idea about until having a kid,” she shared.
Karlie and Joshua have been married since 2018 and have grown stronger together through it all. Karlie’s rare comments about her marriage show how much she values Joshua’s emotional support, not just as her husband, but as her biggest fan who encourages her to hold onto herself despite the demands of motherhood. “He’s been my biggest champion,” she said plainly.
With everything they’ve been through, from young love to parenting and expecting their third child, the couple clearly has a deep bond that keeps getting stronger.
