Lara Trump made her big debut as a Fox News host with My View with Lara Trump, and let’s just say the reaction wasn’t quite what she was expecting.
While the show aimed to highlight conversations with key figures in conservative politics, the internet was busy discussing something else entirely, her face.
A Show About Politics… But Twitter Had Other Plans
The show’s first episode featured Trump administration insiders like Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt, aiming to give viewers a more personal, behind-the-scenes look at conservative leadership. But instead of focusing on the interviews, social media took a different route, with viewers laser-focused on Lara Trump’s appearance.
Within minutes of the episode airing, Twitter (or X, if we’re being technical) was flooded with comments about her seemingly new look. “What in the horse face happened to Lara Trump?” one user posted bluntly. Another questioned whether she had undergone recent plastic surgery, with tweets speculating on everything from cheek implants to an eye lift.
One particularly brutal comment read: “Most women look worse after plastic surgery. Just look at literally all the Trump women.”
Yikes.
Not Her First Time in the Spotlight for This
Lara Trump has faced speculation about her looks before, with similar rumors swirling during Donald Trump’s 2017 inauguration. At the time, whispers of cosmetic procedures were mostly drowned out by bigger political headlines. But this time, the reactions were front and center.
Despite the online chatter, Lara Trump hasn’t responded to the speculation. Instead, she’s focusing on rebranding herself as a media personality, one who, according to Fox News, will bring a fresh perspective to political discourse.
The Politics of It All
Aside from the online noise about her appearance, the real question is: what does this mean for Fox News?
Lara Trump is the first close relative of a sitting president to host a show on the network, a move that could either solidify Fox’s relationship with Trump-world or further complicate it.
After the fallout from Fox’s 2020 election coverage, where they called Arizona for Biden and faced backlash from Trump supporters, the network has been walking a fine line between supporting Trump and maintaining credibility with its broader conservative audience.
Lara Trump herself hinted that her hiring was a signal of Fox’s renewed alliance with the former president. In an interview with Time, she said:
“I certainly hope they can take me being on the team at Fox as a very clear indication as to where Fox stands.”
A Win or a PR Nightmare?
For now, My View with Lara Trump has certainly generated buzz, though maybe not the kind Fox News was hoping for. Whether this translates into ratings success or a one-season wonder remains to be seen.
But one thing’s for sure, if Lara Trump was looking to make headlines, mission accomplished.
