Secret Service Shoots Armed Man Near White House in Late-Night Standoff

Early Sunday morning, chaos erupted near the White House as U.S. Secret Service officers shot an armed man after a tense confrontation.

The dramatic showdown happened at the intersection of 17th Street and F Street Northwest in Washington, D.C., just outside one of the most secure locations in the world.

What Went Down?

Law enforcement had already been alerted that a man, possibly suicidal and from Indiana, was heading to D.C. with a weapon. Just past midnight, Secret Service agents located his vehicle and approached him. Instead of complying, the man pulled out a firearm, forcing officers to open fire. He was shot and rushed to the hospital, his current condition is still unknown.

Who Was Targeted?

No Secret Service officers were injured, and President Trump wasn’t even in town, he was at his Florida residence during the incident. While it’s unclear what the man’s intentions were, authorities are investigating whether he was planning an attack or simply in distress.

Security Shaken, Again

This isn’t the first time the White House has seen security breaches. In 2016, a man with a handgun was shot by agents at a security gate. In 2023, a 20-year-old tried crashing into the White House with a rented U-Haul. And now, another armed suspect has brought national security concerns front and center.

The Metropolitan Police Department’s Internal Affairs Division is taking over the investigation, but one thing is clear, security at the White House is always on high alert, and if you bring a weapon near 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, the response will be swift and deadly.

More Updates Coming

Details are still unfolding, and officials have yet to release the suspect’s name or full motive. But this latest scare serves as a reminder that even with layers of security, threats near the White House aren’t just fiction, they’re very real.
