Lola Young Collapses Onstage at NYC Music Festival, Singer Carried Off by Medical Staff

Lola Young suffered a frightening onstage collapse during her set at the All Things Go Music Festival in New York City.

The 24-year-old singer was performing at Forest Hills Stadium on Saturday, Sept. 27, when the incident occurred mid-performance as she sang her track “Conceited.”

According to attendees, Young faltered before being carried off stage by medical staff while fans in the audience erupted in supportive cheers. The moment shocked concertgoers, but fellow performer Remi Wolf quickly addressed the crowd afterward to ease concerns.

“That was really f—— scary,” Wolf told the audience. “My friend Lola is backstage, and she is okay.”

Before the collapse, Young had hinted at personal struggles. She told fans during her set that she had endured a “tricky couple of days,” adding: “Sometimes life can really make you feel like you can’t continue, but you know what, today I woke up and I made the decision to come here, and I wanted to be cool … and sometimes life can throw you lemons, and you just gotta make lemonade.”

The medical emergency came just a day after Young pulled out of Audacy’s We Can Survive concert on Sept. 26. Her manager, Nick Shymansky, later explained in an Instagram Stories post that the cancellation was linked to a “sensitive matter,” suggesting her mental health was at the center of the decision.

“There are [occasionally] days where myself and my team have to take protective measures to keep her safe,” Shymansky shared. “She is an incredible person and always takes her fans, career and performances seriously. I can only send huge apologies for the inconvenience caused.”

Young has been candid about her struggles with mental health. Diagnosed at 17 with schizoaffective disorder, she opened up in a 2022 Instagram post about how the condition had impacted her life. “I can’t find the words to describe how much this diagnosis has affected my entire life, and my outlook on the world around me. I have struggled immensely learning to accept this part of myself, and I am still learning,” she wrote.

She added at the time, “I have to remind myself that I am a regular f—— person, I am human and I am, like everyone, capable of incredible things, my mental health condition does not define me. It is my superpower.” She also described the “crazy f—— highs and immense lows” she experiences, noting that medication helps manage her symptoms.

Despite her health challenges, Young has continued to rise in the music industry. She is best known for her 2024 hit single “Messy” and has released three albums: My Mind Wanders and Sometimes Leaves Completely (2023), This Wasn’t Meant for You Anyway (2024), and I’m Only F—— Myself, which dropped on Sept. 19, 2024.

Representatives for Young and the All Things Go Music Festival have not yet commented publicly about the onstage incident. Fans continue to share messages of support online, praising her courage for being open about her struggles while still pursuing her passion for music.
