Sabrina Carpenter Gets Real About Dating Pressure

Sabrina Carpenter is no stranger to the spotlight, but even she admits there are parts of fame that are tough to handle, especially when it comes to her personal life.

In a new interview with Rolling Stone, the 26-year-old pop singer didn’t hold back when asked about the constant speculation surrounding her relationships. Sabrina Carpenter, who is rumored to have ended things with actor Barry Keoghan earlier this year, revealed that the gossip often comes with more fiction than fact.

“You’re like: ‘That didn’t happen then. That did happen then. You’re missing a few key details there,’” she said, referencing the inaccuracies she sees about her life online.

While she’s used to being in the public eye, Sabrina admitted that navigating relationships while under a digital microscope is exhausting.

“People underestimate how tricky it is to navigate being a young woman, having relationships, and then having a bunch of strangers have opinions on them,” she said. “Surely, all of these people that are commenting, if they had the same microscope on their personal lives, I don’t think they’d be as eloquently spoken as me.”

She added, “I know it’s a tale as old as time. It’s just unfortunate that it’s still a tale.”

When it comes to internet criticism, Sabrina says the harshest comments often hit close to home, especially when they target her appearance or character.

“When you get down the little rabbit hole is truly when people start commenting on you as a person or you physically,” she said. “All of those things that you’re already thinking on a day-to-day basis. You don’t need a stranger from Arkansas to remind you.”

Despite the constant attention, the Espresso singer is doing her best to stay grounded. When asked if she’s single, her answer was more about embracing the moment than defining a relationship status.

“Am I doing the single thing right now? I’m doing the 25-year-old thing right now, whatever that means,” she said with a laugh.

Sabrina Carpenter also shared how the pressure of fame can make it harder to enjoy the very things that brought her into the industry.

“What people probably don’t realise is the more eyes you have on you, the harder it is to love what you’re doing,” she explained. “You have to keep fighting to still love making things and to still love performing.”

She acknowledged that criticism can take the joy out of relationships and friendships too.

“The critical sides start to taint it. They start to make things less fun,” she said. “But there’s still so much light and goodness in this, if you’re doing it for the reason of you love it and can’t live without it.”

Sabrina Carpenter on relationships might be a hot topic for fans, but for the artist herself, it’s about keeping love, creativity, and self-worth in check, no matter what the internet has to say.
