Sabrina Carpenter may be trading her mic for mutant powers if new rumors about her joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe turn out to be true.
Fans of both Marvel and the “Espresso” hitmaker are in full speculation mode after reports claimed she’s in talks to play a key role in the upcoming X-Men reboot. Yep, Sabrina Carpenter in the MCU might actually be happening.
According to a report from trusted Marvel insider @MyTimeToShineHello, Carpenter is currently being eyed for the role of Dazzler, a pop star mutant named Alison Blaire who’s known for turning sound into light energy. If true, it’s an almost too-perfect fit, given Carpenter’s real-life music career and rising pop icon status. The insider’s X (formerly Twitter) post read, “Sabrina Carpenter is now being eyed to play Dazzler in the MCU,” and that was all fans needed to start spiraling with excitement.
While Marvel hasn’t officially confirmed the news, it wouldn’t be a shocker. Carpenter has already expressed a deep interest in doing action-packed roles. Back in 2022, she told Cosmopolitan UK that her dream was to star in an action film. “I’ve always wanted to do an action film. I think when I was younger, I remember watching ‘Kick-Ass’ for the first time, and I was like, ‘That looks like so much fun,’ so I would love to do something in that world,” she said.
As the X-Men reboot rumors heat up, other actors have also been reportedly linked to major mutant roles. Names like Harris Dickinson as Cyclops, Margaret Qualley as Rogue, Julia Butters as Kitty Pryde, Hunter Schafer as Mystique, Ayo Edebiri as Storm, and Trinity Bliss as Jubilee are all floating around, though again, nothing has been made official by Marvel Studios. The new reboot is expected to be directed by Thunderbolts* director Jake Schreier, with a screenplay penned by Michael Lesslie. However, there’s still no confirmed release date, so everything’s still up in the air.
Sabrina hasn’t publicly commented on the Dazzler speculation yet, but given her massive fan base and her current momentum in both music and pop culture, it wouldn’t be a wild leap. Her upcoming album, Man’s Best Friend, drops August 29, 2025, and her popularity is at an all-time high. Adding a Marvel role to her résumé would only amplify the buzz.
Whether or not Carpenter ends up throwing punches and blasting light in the MCU, fans are clearly rooting for it. The combo of her stage presence, acting chops, and natural fit for the Dazzler role makes this one of the more believable casting rumors floating around right now.
For now, all eyes are on Marvel and Sabrina to see if the rumors hold weight, and if so, Dazzler’s about to get a whole new generation of fans.
