One of Sean “Diddy” Combs’ accusers, Adria English, is once again at risk of losing her legal team amid her ongoing lawsuit against the music mogul.
Legal Team Moves to Withdraw
Attorneys representing English filed a motion on Monday to withdraw from her case, citing “irreconcilable differences” and “a breakdown of the attorney-client relationship.” The filing, submitted in New York federal court, claims English has been unresponsive and unwilling to follow legal advice, making it impossible for them to continue representing her.
“(English’s) conduct has made it unreasonably difficult for Attorneys to represent her. Therefore, it is impossible for Attorneys to serve as Plaintiff’s counsel on this case,” the legal filing stated.
This is the second time English has lost legal representation in her case against Combs, who is facing multiple allegations of sexual assault and trafficking.
Tensions Between English and Her Lawyers
According to the attorneys, English has refused to communicate effectively, ignoring calls and disregarding legal guidance. They also claim that she was warned multiple times about “self-destructive conduct” that could harm her case, yet continued to act against their advice.
“Attorneys attempted to work with Plaintiff to mitigate the damage to her case and prevent her from undermining Attorneys’ advice and efforts on her case,” the filing states. “Against legal advice, Plaintiff has continued that conduct.”
The attorneys have asked the judge to allow them to withdraw and grant a 60-day pause on the case so English can find new representation. However, Combs’ legal team has objected to this request and plans to file a motion to dismiss her lawsuit entirely.
Judge Questions Attorney Withdrawal
On Tuesday, the judge overseeing the case expressed skepticism about whether English had agreed to her attorneys withdrawing from the case. The judge ordered the legal team to consult with their client by March 18 to confirm the next steps.
This development follows a similar situation in October 2024, when English’s previous attorneys also withdrew, citing “irreconcilable differences” and “questionable antics” by their client.
Combs’ Defense Calls Claims ‘Baseless’
Combs’ legal team has aggressively pushed back against the accusations, calling English’s lawsuit an attempt to gain publicity.
“Adria English’s claims were fabricated from the outset, a clear example of how anyone can file a lawsuit without a shred of evidence,” Combs’ representatives said in a statement. “No matter how many lawsuits are filed, it won’t change the fact that Mr. Combs has never sexually assaulted or trafficked anyone.”
With English now scrambling to find a new legal team, the fate of her case remains uncertain. Meanwhile, Combs is still facing multiple lawsuits from other accusers, with his legal battles far from over.
