Julianne Moore isn’t holding back when it comes to praising her Echo Valley co-star Sydney Sweeney.
The Oscar-winning actress recently opened up about what it was like working with the Euphoria star and had nothing but glowing things to say.
In Echo Valley, the two actresses play a mother and daughter navigating a complicated and intense relationship. For Julianne, the dynamic was both challenging and rewarding.
“Sydney’s so terrific,” Moore told Extra. “She’s so available, she’s so professional, she’s so talented, and we just had a really good time, you know, building the relationship and being with each other.”
Moore, 64, explained how much the mother-daughter bond means in the story and in real life. “I think we’re aware of how important this relationship is, the mother-daughter bond, and how much it can hold, how elastic it is, and how far you can push it with each other,” she said.
She also pointed out how relationships with daughters can be volatile, especially during the teenage years. “But it was fun,” she added. “I think we were able to match each other’s energy, and we really enjoyed each other’s company, and it worked.”
Sweeney, 27, echoed that mutual respect, calling Julianne “beyond kind and generous.”
“Everyone had always told me you are the kindest person they’ve ever met, and it’s true,” Sydney said. “Like, absolutely beyond kind and generous and thoughtful and just present for everyone on set.”
The two clearly bonded during production, which only adds depth to their performances in the film. But for Sweeney, who’s had to grow up in the spotlight, the journey hasn’t always been easy.
She recently revealed she used to hide parts of herself early in her career. In an interview with Vanity Fair for their 2025 Hollywood Issue, Sydney shared how she struggled with how much of her personal life to show.
“I just tried to hide who I was for so long because I wanted a little bit of myself for myself,” she said. “I didn’t want to give it all away.”
She said she wrestled with two conflicting instincts: to keep her life private or be fully authentic. “When you just talk about work, people are annoyed or bored or-what I’ve noticed the most-they just create their own idea of who you are.”
With Echo Valley, both actresses seem to have found a meaningful connection, not just as performers, but as women navigating the expectations of Hollywood. Whether it’s Julianne Moore’s admiration or Sydney Sweeney’s honesty about her past, their collaboration is one to watch.
