Travis Kelce still can’t believe he got to be part of a Taylor Swift show, on stage, in front of thousands, right in the middle of her Eras Tour stop in London.
The NFL star made headlines when he surprised fans at Wembley Stadium last June, popping up during the costume change segment of “I Can Do It With a Broken Heart.” Now, nearly a year later, he’s opening up about what it really meant to him.
Talking about the moment on his New Heights podcast, Travis called the experience unforgettable. “I’ll never forget being on a stage in front of what felt like a million people,” he said, still clearly riding the high of that surreal night. The moment came up when his brother and podcast co-host, Jason Kelce, asked what had previously brought Travis to London. With a laugh, Jason teased, “Was it love?”
Well, yeah, it kind of was. Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift’s relationship has played out like a modern fairytale, and his onstage moment was the cherry on top. But here’s the kicker: the idea to join Taylor on stage was actually his own. What started as a joke between the couple turned into a full-blown performance.
“She laughed at first,” Travis recalled. “Then she asked, ‘Would you seriously be up for doing something like that?’ And I was just like, ‘What? I would love to do that, are you kidding me?’” He added that after seeing the Eras Tour enough times, he figured it was time to “put me to work.” Taylor clearly agreed and found the perfect segment of the show for him to jump in.
He described the moment as a total blast and said it felt like the perfect time to just “be a ham” and go all-in on the fun. “Not only with [Taylor]… but the crowd,” Travis said. “It was awesome.” And, like a true supportive boyfriend, he was just happy he didn’t let her down. “I didn’t disappoint Taylor, so that’s all that really matters.”
The moment might’ve felt playful onstage, but it also revealed just how close the two had become. Earlier this year, Jason Kelce opened up about how different Travis’s relationship with Taylor felt compared to his past relationships. “Just the way he talks about her and talked about her from the moment he was with her, it felt different,” Jason said on The Steam Room podcast. He even admitted that it was obvious how much Travis liked her early on, calling it “very eye-opening.”
This isn’t just some tabloid fling. From showing up to support her at concerts to joining her on stage in front of tens of thousands of fans, Travis Kelce is all in. And clearly, he’s loving every second of it.
It’s not every day you see an NFL tight end hamming it up in front of a stadium packed with Swifties, but that’s the power of Taylor Swift, and love, apparently. Travis Kelce performing with Taylor Swift in London wasn’t just a fun one-off. For him, it was a core memory. One he’ll never forget.
