Donald Trump just revealed that Sean “Diddy” Combs personally asked him for a pardon – and yeah, it doesn’t look like that request is going anywhere.
According to Trump, the ask came through a letter. Straight up. When reporters asked him about it, he casually said Diddy “asked me for a pardon,” then joked about whether anyone wanted to see the letter. He never actually showed it, though.
And that pretty much set the tone.
For context, Diddy is currently behind bars after being convicted last year on two prostitution-related charges. He avoided the most serious accusations — sex trafficking and racketeering – but still ended up with a 50-month prison sentence. With time served, he’s expected to be released in May 2028.
Trump, now 79, made it clear he’s not planning to step in. His response wasn’t angry, just… distant. Like someone who’s moved on and doesn’t feel the need to help an old acquaintance.
What makes this awkward is their history. Trump and Diddy were once friendly. There are photos, events, public praise — all of it. Trump even admitted that Diddy “used to really like me a lot.” That changed when Trump ran for president in 2016. According to him, Diddy turned hostile and made some pretty sharp comments.
And Trump? He didn’t forget.
He openly admitted that personal history makes things harder. He said he tries not to let feelings cloud judgment, but also acknowledged that, well, he’s human. Fair enough.
This isn’t the first time the pardon idea has come up either. Back in May, Trump was asked if he’d consider it. His answer then was vague — saying he’d “look at the facts” if someone was mistreated. But now? The vibe feels colder.
After Diddy’s partial acquittal last year, Trump even commented that the result felt like a “half victory.” Not exactly glowing support.
At the end of the day, this feels less about law and more about broken friendships, politics, and timing. Diddy asked. Trump heard him out. And that’s probably where it ends.
