So much so, that the on-screen sparks between the Scranton duo feels a little too real to simply chock up to “acting.”

While appearing on “Watch What Happens Live” with Andy Cohen, Jenna Fischer was asked about her real-life relationship with John Krasinski while shooting the NBC sitcom. Fischer gave a heartwarming answer, saying that there was a part of her that was in love with him, and a part of Krasinski that felt the same way.
Fischer said, “John and I have real chemistry. There’s like a real part of me that is Pam, and there’s a real part of him that’s Jim, and those parts of us were genuinely in love with one another.”

But before you start swooning and adding Krasinski and Fischer to your “One True Pairing” Pinterest board, it’s important we include John Krasinski’s response to the off-screen romance allegations. According to the “A Quiet Place” star, who is now happily married to Emily Blunt, he and his co-star were never “genuinely in love.”
“I think that was wildly misquoted or taken out of context,” Krasinski revealed to The Daily Beast. “I’m sure she was trying to say something nice about how genuine the acting relationship was, of bringing a relationship that became that popular onscreen—and I think we both feel it’s such an honor to be a part of that relationship,” he clarified. “As far as how she was quoted about saying we were ‘genuinely in love,’ I think that was taken wildly out of context, and I feel bad for her.”

Fortunately, despite their relationship never taking a romantic turn in real life, the actors have been able to maintain an incredibly close relationship after all this time. Although it’s been over a decade since “The Office” finale, John Krasinski and Jenna Fischer continue to wax poetic about their friendship, as well as the joy of getting to play one of the most beloved sitcom couples of all time.
When Krasinski was asked if he’d be interested in working with Fischer again, he gave the sweetest answer. Gushing to ET Canada, he said, “I would love to work on anything with Jenna. She is the absolute greatest actress. But also more than that, she’s the most amazing person… So I would love to spend all my time with her if I could.”
