Donald Trump is back at it with the Taylor Swift jabs, and this time, it’s over her looks.
Yep, really. On Friday, May 16, the president posted on Truth Social, “Has anyone noticed that, since I said ‘I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT,’ she’s no longer ‘HOT?’” That post lit up social media instantly, and now even the White House is stepping in to respond.
During a White House press briefing on Monday, May 19, Fox News reporter Peter Doocy couldn’t resist bringing it up. “What does President Trump mean when he says that Taylor Swift is no longer hot?” he asked. Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt gave a very polished (and honestly pretty restrained) answer: “Look, he is speaking about Taylor Swift’s political views and how perhaps it has impacted the support of the American public for her work. I will leave it at that.”
Translation: We’re not getting dragged into Trump’s messy online drama, but let’s not pretend this wasn’t a targeted political jab.
Trump’s been going after Swift for a while now. Back in September 2024, he posted “I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT” right after she called out fake AI-generated images of herself being used to support Trump’s campaign. That same night, she endorsed Kamala Harris for president on Instagram, timed perfectly with the Harris-Trump debate. And that clearly struck a nerve.
Now, months later, he’s randomly linking that post to her “hotness level”? It’s a weird move, even for Trump. He’s 78, still trying to stir headlines, and clearly still mad that one Instagram post from Swift can shake things up politically.
Swift, who’s 35 and arguably at the height of her career, hasn’t responded to the latest insult. But let’s be honest, she doesn’t need to. Her Eras Tour was historic. The Tortured Poets Department smashed streaming records. And her fans? They’re not exactly the type to stay quiet when she’s under attack.
Online, Swifties have been calling out Trump for his sexist remarks and the obsession he seems to have with Taylor’s appearance. Many pointed out how this is just another example of how women in the spotlight, especially ones who speak out politically, get targeted in the most childish ways possible.
Let’s not forget the root of all this: Swift dared to speak up against AI-generated nudes being used without her consent, and then she backed Trump’s political rival. That’s all it took. Trump went from ignoring her to publicly hating her and now to claiming she’s “no longer hot.” It’s textbook petty politics, wrapped in some outdated misogyny.
The fact that this ended up in a White House press briefing shows just how ridiculous, but also how influential, Taylor Swift’s voice is in American politics right now. One Instagram post from her gets more attention than most campaign ads. And clearly, that freaks Trump out.
For now, Swift’s silence is probably the smartest response. She’s been strategic about picking her battles. But whether she directly responds or not, her fans are already clapping back. The Trump-Swift feud isn’t going anywhere, especially with the 2024 election still echoing in the culture wars.
So here we are: a president posting about pop stars’ looks on social media, and the White House having to answer for it. Welcome to America, 2025.
