Everyone’s buzzing about the Sex and the City cast amid the hype surrounding the upcoming season 3 of And Just Like That, and Kim Cattrall’s potential return.
While we can anticipate the familiar faces of Sarah Jessica Parker, Kristin Davis, and Cynthia Nixon for the third season of the reboot series, fans are dying to know whether Kim Cattrall will be reviving her iconic role of Samantha Jones.
The actress dished on whether or not she’ll be returning to the hit HBO Max series following her cameo appearance in Season 2.
Kim Cattrall Reveals Whether She’ll Return to The Sex and the City Reboot
Fans of Sex and the City were devastated when they learned Kim Cattrall, who masters her role as the sexually liberated PR extraordinaire, was not returning for the reboot. For many dedicated fans of Darren Star’s series, Samantha made the show into the iconic masterpiece we all know and love to this day.
While some held onto hope that And Just Like That would still be able to deliver the magic we saw from Sex and the City, most fans were disappointed by the change of overall tone in the reboot. And the number one missing ingredient? Samantha Jones, of course.
But despite how much fans begged and pleaded for Kim Cattrall to return to the series in the Sex and the City reboot, the actress stuck to her guns and refused to comply. She famously stated in a now highly meme-able quote, “I never want to be in a situation for even an hour where I’m not enjoying myself.” As we now know from tell-all interviews and public feuds, Kim Cattrall didn’t enjoy her time on the Sex and the City set. While sitting down with Pierce Morgan in 2017, Cattrall described her relationship with the other cast mates as “toxic.”
When discussing the feud with Andy Cohen on Watch What Happens Live, Sarah Jessica Parker responded to Cattrall’s accusation, saying she was “heartbroken” that her former costar felt that way, since that’s not how she remembers their relationship dynamic at all. “I found it very upsetting because that’s not the way I recall our experience,” Parker said.
Kim Cattrall Will Not Be Returning to And Just Like That For Season 3
Following Kim Cattrall’s highly-anticipated cameo in season 2 of And Just Like That, fans were thrilled by the prospect of Samantha Jones making her slow return back to the series. But according to the actress, she has no plans of coming back after her small but mighty appearance.
“Coming back for just this cameo was fun,” Cattrall spilled of her experience on And Just Like That. Furthermore, she loved getting to work again with Pat Field again, who styled her for the cameo. Of the experience, Cattrall said, “It felt like dipping my toe back in time, and having a wonderful afternoon.” Yet as for whether she’ll dip her toe any further into the reboot? “That’s as far as I’m gonna go,” she said.
With that in mind, Cattrall ends her interview on a sentimental note, saying she’ll always have a place in her heart for Samantha. “I don’t think I’ll ever say goodbye to Samantha,” she said. “I get very emotionally attached and protective of my characters.”
