Will Peter And Simone Last On Sirens?

Fans of Netflix’s Sirens have a ton of questions that have been left unanswered.

One of the major questions that audiences are dying to know is what will become of Simone and Peter’s newfound relationship. Will the two live happily ever after? Or does Simone have the exact same fate as Michaela?

Quick Recap: How Did Sirens Finale End?

Sirens Netflix ending explained
At the end of Sirens, we witness several revelations that determine the characters’ fate. Simone tells Peter she loves him, leading Peter to divorce Michaela so he can now be with his former wife’s 25-year-old assistant instead. Simone deliberately dates Peter so she can avoid going back to Buffalo that’s still rife with traumatic memories from her past. While it’s heavily implied that Simone doesn’t love Peter, she made the decision to be with him in order to avoid the harrowing experiences of her youth.

Meanwhile, Devon decided to go back with her father to Buffalo, despite the fact that she had more exciting plans elsewhere. Devon’s love interest, Morgan, invited her to go yachting with him for a month, but she declined the opportunity due to a sense of obligation to take care of her sick father whose dementia is getting progressively worse.

As for Michaela, her life was snagged away from her by Simone, following 13 years of marriage to Peter. While Michaela empathetically doesn’t villainize Simone for it, it still leaves her without a place to call home.

There are so many questions left unanswered, but one of the main questions fans want to know is whether Simone and Peter will last as a couple with all things considered.

Simone and Peter’s Relationship- Are They Doomed?

Simone and Peter relationship analysis
It all kicks off when Peter kisses Simone while the two collect oysters in the ocean. Clearly, this man has a type: women who are not his wife. The same thing happened in the past, when he kissed Michaela despite being married to someone else. Perhaps Michaela stole Peter from his ex-wife, in the same way Simone stole Peter from Michaela?

Yet as the series points out, Peter is also to blame here. He is the one who is coming on to these other women, who are not his wife. We as audiences are quick to cast the female characters as the monstrous sirens while Peter is just the helpless sailor lost at sea, who got caught in the middle of the whole mess. As we now know, the situation is a whole lot more nuanced than that.

Simone and Peter’s entire relationship is built off of deceit, disloyalty, and the excitement of something new. There’s a lack of honesty within their entire dynamic, which leads viewers to believe they won’t last as a couple. Furthermore, if Peter has a track record of pursuing women outside of his own marriage, there’s a good chance he’ll do the same exact thing with Simone.

When asked by The Hollywood Reporter if Simone will eventually suffer the same fate as Michaela where she’s thrust on a ferry without any support, the series showrunner responded, “Oh, yes. We start the series with the shot of Michaela on the cliff. We end the series with Simone on the cliff, and you’re on this island. It has this cyclical, timeless feel like this is a tale as old as time. It’s a tale as old as Greek mythology time. Women are going to be cast in this role. Peters are going to do Peters (Laughs) It’s an old story. It’s right there in front of us.”
