Avicii is back, well, kind of. Today, May 16, 2025, Avicii Forever officially dropped, and it’s the tribute fans have been waiting for.
Released by Interscope Records, Pophouse, and the Avicii Estate, Avicii Forever isn’t just a nostalgic walk through his legendary discography, it also brings something new to the table. The album includes 19 of his most iconic songs and one brand new track, “Let’s Ride Away,” featuring the powerhouse vocals of Elle King.
The album is available everywhere, streaming platforms, physical editions, and exclusive content on Avicii’s official social channels. It follows the release of the Netflix documentary I’M TIM, which premiered on New Year’s Eve and brought Avicii’s story to a whole new generation.
That doc had fans reliving his highs, his struggles, and everything that made Tim Bergling one of the most unforgettable music creators of our time.
“Let’s Ride Away” is a brand-new addition to the Avicii universe. It was produced by Tim himself, along with Luke Laird and Carl Falk, and written with country-pop queen Kacey Musgraves. Yeah, Avicii and Kacey once teamed up back in 2017 in Nashville during a studio session at the legendary Sound Emporium. The track is a mix of Avicii’s classic feel-good melodic energy and some Nashville-style soul. Elle King’s vocals take it to another level, raw, gritty, and soaring all at once. And yes, it features the same brass band from his global hit “Fades Away.”
Producer Carl Falk, a longtime friend and collaborator, said it best: “Tim wasn’t just a unique artist, he was a once-in-a-generation songwriter. ‘Let’s Ride Away’ blends organic, roots-inspired vibes with that unmistakable Avicii melody. It feels brand new but also so familiar.” He added that Avicii’s ability to take any sound and turn it into something completely his own is what made his music timeless, and why it continues to connect with new fans even today.
Luke Laird echoed the same, saying that working with Avicii was effortless because he had this rare mix of humility and laser-sharp focus in the studio. According to Laird, “Tim gave his collaborators the space to be creative, but he always knew which melody or lyric would hit hardest. And Elle King absolutely nailed the vocal. She honored Tim’s vision but added her own edge.”
So what’s actually on Avicii Forever? It’s packed with all the Avicii bangers you know and love, “Wake Me Up,” “Levels,” “The Nights,” “Hey Brother,” “Lonely Together,” “Silhouettes,” and so many more. There’s also the fan-favorite collab “Heart Upon My Sleeve” with Imagine Dragons and the emotional “SOS” with Aloe Blacc. From “Addicted To You” to “Without You,” every track hits like a wave of memories and joy. And yes, “Heaven” is here too, closing out the album on a bittersweet note.
Even the album cover is meaningful. It features a hand-chiseled stone monument of the Avicii logotype made from stone selected from Bjärlöv in Skåne, Sweden, where Tim spent his childhood summers. It’s a subtle yet powerful tribute that grounds the entire project in the place where his creativity first bloomed.
Avicii Forever isn’t just for longtime fans; it’s built to reach a whole new generation. Whether you’re a die-hard who’s followed Tim from his early days on SoundCloud or someone discovering “Levels” for the first time, this album pulls you in. It’s a reminder of why Avicii changed the game and why his sound still feels so current, even years after his passing.
Tim may be gone, but his music still rides high, and “Let’s Ride Away” just gave us one more reason to hit play all over again.
