Following the release of his single “Just Dance” last month, Australian electro-house producer Bad Computer returned to Monstercat today with the catchy new record, “Blue.”

Undergoing a creative awakening last year, Bad Computer has ushered in a new chapter of his project as he catches up to his current musical tastes. Written during his experimental phase in 2021, “Blue” is an eclectic mix of beautiful chords, infectious pop melodies, and a bouncy bassline.

Drawing inspiration from 2010-era dance-pop, the nostalgic track combines high energy with a driving beat and unconventional vocals, proving that dark lyricism can coexist with buoyant beats.

Bad Computer shares, “‘Blue’ is about the infinities in our world. The sky and the seas appear unlimited, reminding me of my impermanence. The verses and pre-chorus are a back and forth in one’s own mind of positive and negative thoughts that have the power to shape one’s reality. The chorus is a resolution and a reminder that your thoughts shape your reality and that you won’t live forever. It’s not supposed to be uplifting or depressing. That’s why the lyrics can sound grave while the instrumental can feel upbeat and carefree.”
