DJ Hydra Drops ‘Bamidele’ and Starts His Own Label Suru Records

DJ Hydra is making serious moves this summer and not just on the decks.

The rising Afro House DJ is launching his own imprint, Suru Records, and its first release, ‘Bamidele’, is already heating up international charts.

After years of grinding and building a sound that hits hard in both clubs and festivals, this is the moment Hydra’s been heading towards, total artistic control and a direct channel to share his vision with the world.

‘Bamidele’, which means “Follow me home” in Yoruba, isn’t just a track, it’s a homecoming. Hydra pours his soul into it, blending deep African rhythms with sleek electronic textures, creating a sound that feels both rooted and forward-looking. It’s emotional, personal, and a full-on groove, the kind of track that can move both dance floors and hearts.

The timing of the release couldn’t be more perfect. DJ Hydra is gaining steam with bookings and fresh releases on heavyweight labels like UK-based OVAVA Music, which is quickly becoming a go-to hub for boundary-pushing Afro House. The label, run by DJ-producer Ollie Mundy, spotted Hydra’s potential early on. Mundy signed two of Hydra’s tracks immediately after hearing some rough demos, saying Hydra’s sound perfectly matched OVAVA’s vibe.

And he wasn’t wrong. OVAVA has already dropped bangers like Ollie Mundy’s Kirima and Natalie Jane’s debut Amanea, and now Hydra is stepping into that spotlight. His connection to OVAVA adds serious fuel to the fire that Suru Records is already starting. With DJ support rolling in, a promo blitz lined up, and a whole summer of music to come, ‘Bamidele’ is shaping up to be a defining moment for DJ Hydra, and for Afro House as a whole.

Ollie Mundy summed it up best: “Connecting with DJ Hydra is exactly why we built OVAVA, to bring together artists who are all about the music.” Coming from a guy with a Burning Man set and a global Bloop Radio show, that co-sign means something.

So if you haven’t heard ‘Bamidele’ yet, you will. And when you do, you’ll know why DJ Hydra isn’t just a rising star anymore, he’s already arrived.
