L.A.-based producer Ghost In Real Life—or G.I.R.L, for short—is joining forces with fellow Angeleno Slippy for their relentless new single “Youth,” an angsty drum & bass and punk rock hybrid emerging from the tenth season of releases on NIGHTMODE.

Ghost In Real Life may be a label debutante, but the NIGHTMODE newcomer finds herself in good company as she enters into the frame with the genre-bending phenom Slippy. He’s fresh off his own double-sided offering ‘Nobody / White Noise,’ which graced the label less than a month ago, and his latest appearance shows him linking up with another dynamic artist who has been sharpening her chops both in the studio and the vocal booth.

“Youth” is an energetic fusion of their creative talents to the highest degree. Ghost In Real Life’s vocals are dripping with angst, pulling from childhood trauma and her punk rock roots. The lyrics embody the swirling feelings of past challenges while encompassing a powerful delivery that screams taking control over what lies ahead. Ripe with a sense of rebellion yet maintaining a slightly poppy edge, “Youth” is equal parts addictive and exciting. The stripped-back production allows the headstrong vocals to take center stage before ramping up into an aggressive drum & bass onslaught. Palm-muted electric guitar riffs, gurgling synth growls, frenetic percussion, and pulsing low-end up the ante as the hook echoes in to tie everything together.

“Youth” is a cathartic release that perfectly mixes punk rock influences with DnB for an unforgettable anthem.

“Growing up, I went to a lot of punk shows, listened to punk music, and was even in a punk band. When I was writing the lyrics with Shep and producing the track, I wanted to truly embody what my past sounded like and blend it with my future. Adding Slippy on brought the track to its true DnB potential. Definitely one of my favorite collabs yet.”—Ghost In Real Life

“When Maggie sent ‘Youth’ over for me to check out, I immediately knew it was a song I wanted to be a part of. This track has so much raw energy in the lyrics that I think a lot of us can relate to. It’s been killing it in both of our sets for the past six months and I’m stoked to finally have it out in the world!”—Slippy
