You can find Producer/DJ Jordan Nocturne laying down beats in venues across the world, from London to New York, Brussels to Berlin, and Ibiza to Tokyo.
However, it’s in his hometown of Belfast where Jordan Nocturne has built up his reputation with over a decade of dedicated diligence, curating the best parties in the city and as promoter and resident at The Night Institute. Belfast has a thriving electronic music scene and Jordan has worked as hard as anyone to achieve this.
‘Musique’ EP, released on Permanent Vacation on 29th September, is the perfect soundtrack for a night out in Jordan Nocturne’s Belfast- a place where clubbers really know how to enjoy themselves. Starting with a retro hi-tempo bass kick and snare combo, the title track Musique announces itself straight into your eardrums, joined eight bars in by a driving bassline on a 1-step delay. By the time the Italo-infused main synth line hits, you, and everyone else in the club will be on your feet dancing. There is something timeless about this track – classic, yet contemporary. Get Into It provides a perfect partner for ‘Musique’. A metronomic bass click, 80’s drum machines and sleazy synths take you back to where house music began. By the time the chopped vocal line tells you to ‘Get Into The Music’, you will have been for quite a while already.
Acyd, the third track of the trilogy, has a title that’s a dead giveaway: Keeping to the EP’s feel of retro drum machines and driving bass, but laying down the wickedest, tweaking acid house top line for your delectation.
Jordan Nocturne explains: “This is my second release on Permanent Vacation – a label I’ve had a lot of love and respect for many years. The first release, featuring Le Boom was picked up by Pete Tong on Radio 1 which was a big deal for me, having grown up listening to Tong every weekend. This time round I’ve got three tracks written for sweaty clubs – ‘Musique’ is a high energy Italo banger – it’s been a while since I’ve put out something in this vein. With the Nocturne Edits being so popular on the Italo circuit, I thought it was only right to deliver a new original Italo weapon. Get Into It is peak time chunky house that fits perfectly in my own DJ sets and I’m hoping will find some love across the boardl. Acyd does what it says on the tin!”
