Setting the tone for their upcoming Way Out East album with recent singles These Days ft. Kirani Ayat and Check The Vibe with Wifty Bangura and ADH that has seen support from BBC Radio 1, production duo Re.decay continue their ascent with new single ‘Cosa Nostra’ featuring the talented Mawcom X.

With a determination and drive to collaborate with a variety of artists from all corners of the globe, Berlin based duo Re.decay showcase Ghanian based rapper Mawcom X in this latest release. Also set to feature on their LP, ‘Cosa Nostra’ perfectly fits into Re.decay’s sonic tapestry with gritty and ethereal production tones complemented with Mawcom X’s commanding and nonchalant verses.

Not the first time to cross paths, Mawcom X (aka Mawuli Jiagge) is a frequent Re.decay collaborator as well as Accra underground fixture. The Ghana MC’s laid back baritone takes center stage on the new single, as he spins a punchline-laden tale of rising to greatness through the lens of classic mafia movie dynamics that are emphasized with the epic accompanying visuals. Though the verses ooze swagger and confidence, Mawcom X also warns of the pitfalls of a quick rise to success.

A truly unique voice in Accra’s budding music scene, Mawcom X evokes British rap greats like Wretch 32, J Hus, Skepta, Giggs and Chip blended with the melodic vocal stylings of Burna Boy and Lazee and the dynamic delivery of ADÉ. Meanwhile, Re.decay take influence from Dr Dre, Little Dragon, Anderson Paak, Mac Miller, GuiltyBeatz, Kendrick Lamar, Madlib and more, moulding a sound that is uniquely their own.

Demonstrating their playful blend of eastern and western rhythms, ‘Cosa Nostra’ with Mawcom X continues to shine a light on Re.decay’s collaborative, cross-continental trajectory. Poised to marry afro-infused grooves, raw hip-hop, soulful house and smooth R&B, the full album in January will feature 15 artists from 8 different countries and 3 continents, delving into the ambitious and stunning universe of Re.decay’s catalogue.

After 2 years of producing for other artists, this will be Re.decay’s most far-reaching project to date, marking a confident return to centre stage as artists in their own right.
