Los Angeles-based Skellytn has been making a name for herself as one of the primary flag bearers for neurofunk Stateside.

Following her debut on Bassrush Records with “Control,” she makes her return to the label with an electrifying five-track EP. ‘Megacorporation’ sees Skellytn taking listeners on a thematic voyage that underscores the dystopian universe behind the project, which now follows the company’s ascent and dominance in the realms of warfare machinery and biotechnology.

Keeping listeners on the edge of their seats from the opening comes “Fracture.” The introduction is spine-tingling and heart-racing as ominous undertones evolve into a sense of fear-stricken excitement. Gritty basses intertwine with malevolent sound design and primal flourishes. The cinematic offering evokes images of a mutated beast ravaging the night with bloodthirsty intent.

Connecting with Los Angeles-based artist BZRKR comes “Fire Across The Sky.” Otherworldly soundscapes drift amongst distorted horns and punchy percussion. The vocal topline blurs the lines between catchy and ritualistic, pulling listeners in with a hypnotic allure. The drops offer a blistering barrage of bass and pounding drum programming to produce a high-octane ride. The vocals wander in at the perfect moments to act as a hook before another explosive leg of pure mayhem.

Sitting at the heart of the EP comes the centerpiece. “Villian.” It takes on the very definition of a weapon in more ways than one. Testing out EP’s heaviest artillery comes a war-ready epic. The robotic vocal narrates the path of destruction while ferocious Reese bass, a choppy percussive backbone, foreboding horns, and intermittent bleeps take the fight to the frontlines.

“Dance With The Devil” sees Skellytn uniting with emerging singer-songwriter UNDY for an inviting yet unholy track. UNDY’s vocals act as a siren song mixing demonic undertones with a sultry enchantment. The track puts listeners under its spell before dragging them to the depths of the darkness. Sci-fi-inspired synths create a mesmerizing melody that’s obliterated with the DnB assault that’s contained in the drops. The aggressiveness of the production is carefully counterbalanced with inviting vocal tones for an irresistible dark delight.

Bringing the EP to a close comes the lead single “Control.” Honey-B-Sweet brings an undeniable swagger, dropping braggadocious bars that radiate confidence and control. Her raps create a sense of unbeatable conviction that’s perfectly punched up with the boisterous backing. A hypnotic melody floats under chest-pumping percussion and rugged guitar riffs. The first drop is a murderous bout of filthy low-end, destructive laser synths, and perfectly placed vocal splices. The menacing halftime DnB section is locked and loaded while the finale keeps listeners on their toes as Skellytn injects a scorching neuro sound that’s equal parts enthralling and mesmerizing.

Skellytn elaborates on why Bassrush is the perfect home for the EP, saying: “The creative synergy between my music and the vision of Bassrush has allowed the ‘Megacorporation’ EP to flourish, transcending expectations and embodying its truest essence. I extend my heartfelt thanks to Bassrush for their trust, guidance, and belief in my artistry. Together, we have created something extraordinary, and I am excited to share the EP with the world, knowing that it embodies the culmination of our shared passion and dedication to pushing the boundaries of electronic music.”

Skellytn has been making major waves in the scene with her standout sound. The L.A.-based artist is the first female producer to ever release a drum & bass album in North America with her ‘Neurocomputer’ LP on Reid Speed’s Play Me Records. Continuing her trendsetting status, she is also the first female to release on the neuro staple label Eatbrain. She’s fresh off a 25-stop tour alongside bass heavyweight Boogie T and is amidst a packed festival season with appearances at Forbidden Kingdom, Nocturnal Wonderland, and some of the most noteworthy bass festivals in North America.

Skellytn creates an immersive sonic experience with ‘Megacorporation,’ delivering blistering DnB excellence with a masterful thematic arc.

Skellytn’s new EP ‘Megacorporation’ is available on all platforms via Bassrush Records.
