TOBEHONEST returns to Insomniac’s offshoot imprint IN / ROTATION with his first standalone single arriving in the form of “Sirens,” a spellbinding tech house number boasting world music and minimal influences, bundled together with his recent offering “Focused.”
L.A-based producer TOBEHONEST is an up-and-coming house producer who has been turning heads nonstop in the short but sweet two years since getting his project off the ground. After first touching down on the label back in January, he’s now circling back around to Insomniac’s offshoot IN / ROTATION with his first official single.
A true marvel of mesmerizing persuasions, “Sirens” is a hypnotic tech house construction that feeds into the culturally expansive sound TOBEHONEST has been putting behind his moniker. Clocking in close to three-and-a-half minutes, the track is marked by a murmuring female vocal loop, tumbling basslines, clean drum programming, echoing vocalizations, and a mesmerizing flute lead that colors it with an entrancing world vibe. It has already been making the rounds with support from tastemakers from the likes of Cloonee, Wax Motif, ACRAZE, and Danny Kolk.
“This track is one of my favorites I’ve ever produced,” says TOBEHONEST. “The heavier bassline, minimal drums, and worldly influence is something I consistently strive to give in my music. So, to finally nail something like on this record is something I’m very proud of. Stank-face house only!”
Rounding out the B-side of the release is “Focused,” which served as his label debut on IN / ROTATION by way of the imprint’s recent ‘Rotate Vol. 10’ compilation. Also incorporating a spellbinding woodwind lead and haunting chanting vocalization, the track landed radio support in CID’s ‘Night Service Only,’ Benny Benassi’s ‘Welcome to My House,’ and Danny Kolk’s ‘Aloha Mix Show.’ The two-track offering arrives after his recent performance at EDC Las Vegas, where he set the tone for Sunday with his groove-laden set on the cosmicMEADOW stage to kickstart the final day of the world renowned festival.
