For his first ever reggae production, TroyBoi teams with Jamaican dancehall artist Chris Marshall on a new party starter “GYAL” out today (September 10) on T DOT Records.

Marshall, known for “Tu y Yo” featuring Brazilian singer-songwriter Anitta which was a big track on her Grammy-nominated studio album Kisses, delivers a sultry swag on top of TroyBoi’s island vibed production.

Often used to refer to a girlfriend, “Gyal” is a slang term of West Indian origin which means “Girl.” The song is also accompanied by a colorful video created by black-led 3-D animation studio RENDRD Media (www.rendrd.com).

“I’ve loved reggae music from a very young age,” TroyBoi says. “There is a huge West Indian community in the area that I grew up in South East London so I would alway hear the music being blasted from my neighbours houses or in the local shops I’d go to. I remember my parents played a lot of Bob Marley and UB40 in my house so it definitely inspired me greatly in my future productions. When I met Chris, we vibed extremely well in the studio and his vocal talents made it easy to create the music to accompany him. I’ve always wanted to make a reggae track and we’re both so pleased with how it came out. When it comes to my music, I’m always ready to experiment, to step outside of the box and evolve my craft.”

Producer TroyBoi (Troy Henry) has never been shy about working outside the box. “GYAL” follows the release of his V!BEZ Vol 4 EP earlier this year featuring tracks with Tropkillaz, Nina Sky and NEFERA, “Red Eye,” a production for Justin Bieber which appeared as a bonus track on his latest album Justice, an 80’s roller disco-inspired track “You’re The One For Me” with DESTRUCTO, a remix of Brazilian sensation Anitta’s “Girl From Rio (featuring DaBaby),” and his latest “BUSS IT.”
