Mike Posner’s classic hit “Please Don’t Go” gets a bass-heavy remix from top producer YDG.
Released in 2010 as the follow-up second single to Posner’s debut album 31 Minutes to Takeoff, the song reached its peak position of No. 16 on the Billboard Hot 100 and became a seminal track in pop-electro music almost overnight. Written by and produced with Benny Blanco, the original song combined synth-pop hooks with R&B-influenced beats that showcased Posner’s emotive lyrics: “Baby, please don’t go.
Now, YDG reimagines the song for a generation of bass music. Maintaining the eerie topline and emotional essence that made the original so iconic, the remix adds chunky dubstep influence, with shuddering sub-bass drops and a perpetual low-end, meant to take over festival sets and club floors. The end result is a high-energy reimagining honoring the original while forcing it into the world of peak-time electronic intensity.
“I was excited and privileged to be asked to put my own twist on this anthem,” YDG added. “I wanted to produce something that would cut through any festival set, and I think I’ve succeeded!”
