Young Thug Teases Massive Comeback with ‘Uy Scuti’ Album Drop

Young Thug’s Uy Scuti is officially on the way, and fans are buzzing.

This marks Thugger’s first album since his prison release in October 2024, and he’s going all in. On April 16, Young Thug dropped the official merch store for Uy Scuti, complete with alternate vinyl and CD covers, bundles, and even a T-shirt nodding to his high-profile lawyer, Brian Steel.

Thug announced the move on X with a cryptic post that read, “It’s Time. Red Planet,” along with a link to the store. It wasn’t just merch, though – this post made one thing clear: Thug season is coming fast.

The album name Uy Scuti isn’t just some random pick either. It’s inspired by a real red supergiant star found in the Scutum constellation, one of the largest known stars in the universe. Fitting for someone aiming to go astronomical with his comeback.

Adding fuel to the hype, a massive billboard popped up at Coachella, teasing the album’s arrival with the message: “Universe has been too quiet. Until now. UY SCUTI.” The actual release date was blacked out, but fans are guessing it’ll land on May 9 – a Friday that also marks the three-year anniversary of Thug’s initial arrest in the YSL RICO case.

Even though Young Thug hasn’t dropped a solo single in 2025 yet, he did feature on Lil Baby’s track “Dum, Dumb, and Dumber” alongside Future earlier this year. That feature alone had fans speculating that he’s slowly ramping up to full-blown comeback mode.

ICYMI, Thug spent over two years in jail during what became one of Georgia’s longest-running trials. But on Halloween 2024, he secured his release through a plea deal, getting sentenced to 15 years of probation. That was the turning point, and Uy Scuti looks like it’ll be the next big milestone in his journey back to the top.

His attorney Brian Steel – who Thug saluted in the new merch drop – was instrumental in the legal fight. Steel is now making headlines again, this time for joining Diddy’s defense team for an upcoming racketeering and sex trafficking trial. It’s a legal dream team now that also includes Marc Agnifilo and Teny Geragos, both heavy hitters in the courtroom.

Back to the album: from the limited edition merch to the celestial branding and mysterious promos, Thugger’s not doing this halfway. The campaign is sleek, loud, and calculated. All signs point to a May release, and Thug is making sure no one misses it.
