Yungblud Praises Lady Gaga And Florence Pugh For Their Raw Creativity

Yungblud isn’t holding back his admiration for two powerhouse women in entertainment, Lady Gaga and Florence Pugh.

In a recent chat with Rolling Stone, the 27-year-old artist gushed about Gaga’s mind-blowing creativity and called her a constant source of inspiration.

“I would love to be a fly on the wall every time Gaga walks up to her team and goes, ‘Right, this is what we’re doing next,’” he said. “She’s a beautiful mind and a limitless imagination, you can tell. She’s just herself, isn’t she?”

Yungblud, who openly identifies as one of Gaga’s Little Monsters, seems fascinated by how she moves creatively. According to him, there’s something magnetic about her decision-making process that keeps pushing boundaries, and he’d do anything to witness it firsthand.

The ‘Fleabag’ singer didn’t stop there, he also gave major props to Florence Pugh, the actress who stars in his latest music video for the emotionally charged track ‘Zombie’. He called her one of the most exciting British artists in recent memory.

“Florence Pugh, in my opinion, is one of the most exciting British artists in a long time,” he told the mag. “I think she has this individuality that is not adherent to anyone else. She is completely legit and individual within her own style in her own time.”

In the video, Florence plays an exhausted healthcare worker on the edge, capturing the raw emotions tied to the song’s deeper message. Yungblud said he was “mind blown” by her performance on set, adding, “She’s just a legend. You can tell, man. She’s just sat in a pub on a Sunday with a pint of Guinness, just talking s***.”

‘Zombie’ is the third single from Yungblud’s upcoming album Idols, following ‘Hello Heaven, Hello’ and ‘Lovesick Lullaby’. In a statement, he explained the inspiration behind the song, which ties into personal family experiences.

“The song was written initially about my grandmother going through serious injury and trauma, leading her to become a different person to who she was before,” he shared. “It’s about the feeling of deterioration and ugliness; shutting out the world and the people we love out of the fear of becoming a burden or an embarrassment.”

Despite its heavy themes, Yungblud says the track still leans into that gritty, emotional British sound he’s known for. “We all want someone or something to comfort us no matter how we are right now or who we become in the future. But it’s f****** scary.”

With emotional honesty, genre-blending music, and now powerful visuals featuring Florence Pugh, Yungblud’s Idols is shaping up to be his most vulnerable, and most ambitious, project yet.
