It’s been over a year that the music industry and the world lost the legend, Avicii.
After all this time, his friends and collaborators have made sure to keep his music alive. With tributes during their sets, to special remixes, anyone and everyone in the music industry is doing their bit to honor the man who left us too soon, and his music.
Avicii, real name Tim Bergling, passed away on April 20, 2018, by apparent suicide and his family has taken it upon themselves to do their bit to address the growing issues of mental health and suicide prevention. By launching The Tim Bergling Foundation earlier this year, the family’s mission was to focus on supporting people and organizations that work in prevention in the areas of mental health and suicide.
After his collaborators decided to come together and complete his posthumous album “TIM” and release it earlier this year, his family and friends have decided to bring another wish of the late DJ and Producers to life.
Klas Bergling, Tim’s father said, “Tim had plans for his music to be performed together with a large live band, and now we are realizing his dream and giving fans a chance to experience his music in this unique way.”
More than 19 of his singer/songwriter collaborators will be coming together with a massive 30-piece live band to perform Avicii’s music as part of this Tribute concert. From Adam Lambert to Rita Ora and Aloe Blacc to Otto Knows, a lot of these songs will be performed live in any form for the very first time.
Opening sets for the event will be played by his friends from the industry, David Guetta, Kygo, Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike, Laidback Luke, and Nicky Romero. While the headlining performance will be the 2-hour live band performing with the plethora of singers whose vocals have been featured on his tracks over the years.
“We are grateful that his friends, producers, artists, and colleagues are coming to Stockholm to help,” Klas Bergling said in a statement. “They have all expressed sincere interest and desire to engage in efforts to stem the tide of mental illness and lend their support to our work with the Tim Bergling Foundation. We are very much looking forward to this evening, which will be a starting point for the foundation’s work going forward.”
Taking place on December 5, 2019, in his hometown of Stockholm, Sweden, at the Friends Arena, the Avicii Tribute Concert for Mental Health Awareness will be produced and presented by The Tim Bergling Foundation. All the proceeds from sales will go towards the foundation and their work in the areas of mental health and suicide prevention.
Tickets go on sale Thursday, Sept. 5, at 10 a.m. CET.
