Gavin Newsom Trolls Trump With Darth Vader Clip

California Governor Gavin Newsom just took trolling to another galaxy.

In the latest twist of his heated feud with Donald Trump, Newsom posted a Star Wars-themed video on X that used an AI voice mimicking Emperor Palpatine to narrate Trump’s Truth Social rants. Yeah, it’s as wild as it sounds. The post came just hours before Newsom officially filed an emergency motion to stop Trump from deploying National Guard troops and Marines to Los Angeles without his permission.

The focus here is simple, Newsom is furious, and he’s not hiding it. The video is a bold, theatrical clapback aimed at the president’s decision to bring in troops following protests in LA. In the video, Trump’s dramatic social media posts are read aloud with full villainous flair while scenes from Star Wars show Stormtroopers marching like they’re about to take over a galaxy, or in this case, LA. The caption from Newsom’s press office? “A once great American city has been occupied!”

Of course, not everyone’s loving this bold cinematic jab. Critics on X wasted no time roasting Newsom. One person snarked, “You still have time to delete this,” while another mocked, “The left still can’t meme.” Another user didn’t hold back, calling the post “laughable propaganda” and blasting Newsom for wasting time online while “California cities are falling apart.” People aren’t just mad, they’re accusing the governor of turning a serious crisis into a political sideshow.

This Star Wars stunt isn’t just a meme moment, it’s part of a much bigger spat. The core of the chaos? Trump sent federal troops into LA, claiming that violent protests tied to ICE raids were spiraling out of control. He painted the demonstrations as full of “illegal aliens and criminals,” and insisted the National Guard was needed to protect the city. His social post even announced he’d tapped Kristi Noem, Pete Hegseth, and Pam Bondi to help “liberate Los Angeles from the migrant invasion.” According to Trump, “Order will be restored, the illegals will be expelled, and Los Angeles will be set free.”

Newsom didn’t just clap back with memes. He went legal. His emergency motion asks the court for a restraining order to limit troop deployment strictly to federal property. His office says this move is about protecting state rights under the 10th Amendment, and not letting the federal government stomp on California’s authority. “Trump is turning the US military against American citizens,” Newsom declared. “The courts must immediately block these illegal actions.”

And just when you thought the feud couldn’t get any more intense, it got personal. Trump claimed during an Oval Office presser that he had called Newsom the day before and told him to get it together. “He’s doing a bad job,” Trump said. “If we didn’t send out the National Guard, Los Angeles would be burning right now.”

Newsom wasn’t having it. “There was no call. Not even a voicemail,” he shot back on X. “Americans should be alarmed that a President deploying Marines onto our streets doesn’t even know who he’s talking to.” His spokesman, Izzy Gardon, told the New York Times that the last call between the two happened on Friday, not the day Trump claimed.

But Trump doubled down, telling Fox News that they had indeed spoken. “First call wasn’t picked up. Second call, Gavin picked up, we spoke for 16 minutes,” he said. “I told him to get his ass in gear and stop the riots.” And to prove it, Trump even posted a screenshot of his call log.

Newsom Trump Star Wars

Newsom fired right back, suggesting Trump posted the wrong screenshot. “If only he had shown the right ones,” Newsom wrote. “Trump doesn’t even know what day it is.”

The bottom line? Things between Newsom and Trump have officially entered meme war territory, but behind all the Star Wars soundbites and call log clapbacks lies a very real constitutional and humanitarian fight. Whether or not the video moves the needle legally or politically, one thing is clear, this feud is nowhere near over. And if the Emperor voiceover is any clue, it’s only going to get more theatrical from here.
