Sprouts Farmers Market, the grocery chain fans are calling “1000% better than Whole Foods and Trader Joe’s,” is going full throttle with expansion plans.
After already opening 33 stores in 2024, Sprouts isn’t slowing down, instead, it’s prepping to launch at least 35 new locations in 2025, with some major grand openings kicking off as early as this month. The Sprouts Farmers Market’s new stores 2025 rollout begins with a fresh launch in Pittsburg, California, on June 27, and the buzz is building fast.
Sprouts, known for its focus on fresh, natural, and organic products, currently operates over 400 stores nationwide. The upcoming Pittsburgh store spans 23,000 square feet and is opening in the Shoppes at San Marco, a huge win for a city that local officials once labeled a “food desert.” Wolfgang Croskey, CEO of the Pittsburgh Chamber of Commerce, couldn’t hide his excitement during the store’s announcement back in 2023. “We have done everything with the city to recruit grocery stores,” he said. “Sprouts is the one who chose Pittsburgh.”
And they’re going big with the celebration. From June 27 to June 29, the store will host a grand opening pop-up party full of giveaways, discounts, and community vibes. The first 200 shoppers on both Friday and Saturday will snag reusable goodie bags packed with samples and Sprouts products. On top of that, the first 400 guests on Friday will be gifted long-stemmed roses. Plus, shoppers can save up to 20% all weekend by texting BURG to 777-688 and scanning their Sprouts app barcode at checkout, limited to one account per day with up to $20 savings.
Looking beyond California, Sprouts is targeting more growth in Florida, with confirmed new stores coming to Fountain Hills, Arizona, and Venice, Florida. Just like in Pittsburgh, locals in Fountain Hills have been pushing for a specialty grocery store for years. Amanda Jacobs, economic development director for the town, said, “The Fountain Hills residents have been asking for a specialty grocery store since I started with the town over three years ago.”
Sprouts CEO Jack Sinclair credits the chain’s rapid expansion to its loyal customer base and unique offerings. “2024 was a remarkable year for our company,” he said. “Our teams across the business delivered on our strategy and set us up for even greater success in the future.” Sinclair added that Sprouts’ “attribute-driven” product selection, focused on health-conscious, natural options, is exactly what modern shoppers are looking for.
Sprouts’ recent success proves that the demand for clean, organic groceries isn’t just a trend, it’s the new normal. As more shoppers turn away from mainstream chains and toward stores like Sprouts for their produce, pantry staples, and wellness products, the grocery landscape is shifting fast. With these 35 new stores in the pipeline and a loyal fanbase hyping it up as better than Whole Foods or Trader Joe’s, Sprouts Farmers Market is firmly planting its roots as a go-to destination for conscious consumers.
