Aldi vitamin recall warnings are shaking up shoppers as popular B12 gummies sold at major retailers like Aldi, BJ’s, and online have been pulled from shelves due to possible peanut contamination.
The affected vitamin B12 gummies, which include products under the Welby, Berkley Jensen, and VitaGlobe brands, are being recalled out of caution after peanuts were potentially found in batches not labeled to contain them. This unexpected twist is causing concern among consumers, especially those with severe allergies, though no allergic reactions have been reported so far.
The recall was triggered when Aldi performed a routine product label test and discovered the possible presence of peanuts in the gummies. This test prompted the FDA to step in and issue an official allergy alert. The vitamins, widely known for supporting energy levels and nerve function, are often consumed daily by health-conscious Americans. But for the 1 to 2% of the U.S. population living with peanut allergies, roughly 12 million people, this kind of contamination could be life-threatening.
Three different product batches are impacted by this recall, all tied to Lot #: 248046601 and an expiration date of 10/2026. The Welby Vitamin B12 Energy Support gummies sold at Aldi come in a clear bottle with a white cap and green, red, and white labeling (UPC Code: 4099100290868). BJ’s is affected too, with Berkley Jensen’s B12 1000 mcg 250 count gummies (UPC Code: 888670132487), and VitaGlobe’s Extra Strength 60 count B12 gummies (UPC Code: 850005214670) also flagged under the same lot.
The good news? Consumers don’t need to have a peanut allergy to return the product and receive a refund. Vita-Warehouse Corp., the company behind the recalled items, is offering full refunds to anyone who purchased the affected lot. Shoppers just need to provide a photo of the bottle showing the lot number and expiration date to claim it. According to a company spokesperson, the recall was issued “out of an abundance of caution” to prioritize customer safety, even though Vita’s own internal tests did not detect peanut contamination.
What’s wild is that while Aldi raised the alarm, the same lot of B12 gummies continues to be sold online through retailers like Walmart. VitaGlobe’s B12 product, priced at just $5.95, is still listed as available, though it’s unclear whether it’s been flagged for the recall or remains on sale due to different lot numbers. Meanwhile, the now-recalled Welby brand was previously sold at Aldi for $8.79, while the Berkley Jensen B12 gummies were priced at $12.99 at BJ’s, according to online listings.
This latest recall is part of a growing trend of allergy-related product recalls, reflecting the increasing scrutiny over food and supplement labeling. With more Americans relying on daily supplements like B12 to maintain their energy and focus, it’s no surprise shoppers are extra cautious when news like this breaks. While the FDA continues to monitor the situation, consumers are being advised to stop using the affected products immediately and return them to the store of purchase.
As for the bigger picture, this case is a reminder of just how important it is to double-check supplement labels, even when buying from trusted retailers. A simple daily routine could quickly turn risky for allergy-prone consumers. If you’ve recently stocked up on B12 from Aldi, BJ’s, or online, now’s the time to take a second look at that bottle before popping another gummy.
