Ross Dress for Less is leveling up big time, and bargain hunters are here for it.
The nostalgic discount retailer, often described as a “nicer version of TJ Maxx,” is opening 10 new stores across the US, starting July 19. At a time when many brands are closing shop, Ross is going full steam ahead, bringing affordable fashion and home goods to more communities while also creating job opportunities and supporting local charities.
The new Ross locations will land in 10 different states, including California, Minnesota, Michigan, New York, New Jersey, Tennessee, and New Mexico. If you’ve been craving that signature Ross experience of digging through racks for gems, your wait is almost over. California’s San Francisco will see a new location open on Market Street, while Anaheim will get one at the Euclid Shopping Center. That’s not all, they’re even giving back locally by donating to the Boys & Girls Club of San Francisco.
Minnesota’s getting two fresh Ross stores, opening in Woodbury and Savage. Michigan joins the party with new spots in Adrian, with Ross continuing its community-first approach by supporting the Boys & Girls Club in Lenawee. In the New York metro area, stores are set to open in Hempstead, New York, and in Brick and West Long Branch, New Jersey. Clovis, New Mexico, is getting a spacious 21,000-square-foot location at the North Plains Mall Shopping Center. Meanwhile, Nashville, Tennessee, will welcome a massive 22,000-square-foot store in the South Plaza Shopping Center.
Each new store is expected to create between 55 and 90 jobs, both full-time and part-time, which is a welcome boost in today’s shaky retail job market. CEO Jim Conroy broke it down, saying, “Consumers are looking for value and convenience more than ever, and we’re excited to continue to bring those qualities to the community.” That simple combo of deals and ease is exactly why Ross continues to thrive.
Ross isn’t just popping up overnight either. The company has been expanding consistently. Back in March, Ross opened 16 stores in one sweep, along with three new DD’s Discounts, another discount chain under its umbrella. Ross exec Richard Lietz confirmed they’ve been focusing their expansion in newer markets like Connecticut, Minnesota, New Jersey, and New York, while DD’s Discounts is growing deeper into existing territories like California, Georgia, and Texas.
In total, the retailer now operates a whopping 2,205 stores across 44 states, plus the District of Columbia and even Guam. Looking ahead, the company has its sights set on reaching 2,900 Ross stores and 700 DD’s Discounts nationwide. It’s ambitious but totally within reach given how loyal shoppers are and the growing demand for budget-friendly fashion and home essentials.
With the first wave of these new Ross stores rolling out in just weeks, fans are counting down. Whether you’re after a last-minute party outfit, home goods that don’t break the bank, or just love the thrill of the hunt, Ross is making sure you’ll have a location nearby. And with their strong community ties and job creation focus, this isn’t just about shopping, it’s about bringing value where it’s needed most.
