If you’ve been waiting on your Social Security payments, this might be your week!
The Social Security Administration (SSA) is sending out another round of payments on Wednesday, March 19, 2025, but not everyone will get theirs at the same time.
Who’s Getting Paid This Week?
Not all Social Security recipients receive their checks on the same day. If your birthday falls between the 11th and 20th of any month, your March payment will arrive on March 19.
However, if you:
- Started receiving benefits before May 1997, or
- Also collect Supplemental Security Income (SSI),
Your payment was already issued earlier this month.
How Much Will You Get?
The maximum Social Security benefit for 2025 is $5,108 per month for those who delayed retirement until age 70. However, most people receive much less, depending on when they retired and their lifetime earnings.
Here’s a quick breakdown of maximum benefits:
- Retired at 62? You could receive up to $2,831 per month.
- Retired at full retirement age (67)? Maximum benefit is $4,018 per month.
- Retired at 70? You could receive the full $5,108 per month.
The average monthly Social Security payment for retirees is currently $1,976, following a 2.5% Cost-of-Living Adjustment (COLA) increase for 2025.
What If Your Payment Doesn’t Arrive?
If your payment doesn’t land in your account by March 22, don’t panic. The SSA advises waiting three business days before contacting them. Delays can happen due to:
- Bank processing times
- Federal holidays
- Incorrect banking details on file
To track your payment, use the “Where’s My Payment?” tool on the SSA website or check your My Social Security account.
What’s Next for Social Security?
Early projections suggest the 2026 COLA increase could be lower than this year’s 2.5%, with estimates around 2.2%, but we won’t get official numbers until October.
