After being forced to cancel their 2020 edition, Texas based Ubbi Dubbi Music festival has made it clear of their plan to continue with their 2021 edition.

Ubbi Dubbi Festival is scheduled to take place April 24th and 25th, 2021 and features names like Karkare, Illenium, Camelphat, Adventure Club among others. While most states are still carrying on with precautions and COVID restrictions, Texas Governor Greg Abott has been one of the first few to lift all kinds of COVID restrictions and mask mandates, so technically, it is legal for the festival to carry on as planned for the time being.

In a recent press release last week, the festival announced they are partnering with Clear to reduce COVID risks. The statement read “We are partnering with CLEAR, experts in reducing COVID risks, the local government, and the health community, and we will partner with you. Together, with grins and masks up, we are working tirelessly to create an amazing and safe space for us all to rave together. Our success as one of the first festivals in the world to return safely depends on your help and compliance with new guidelines.”

While the details are still sparse, Disco Donnie, the organizer of the festival has announced that he is planning to implement express entry lanes at the event’s 2021 for those who have been vaccinated for the novel coronavirus.

When asked about the possibility by a fan on Twitter, Donnie responded to the tweet sharing the news of the lanes, saying “100% part of the plan.” While they have not yet been confirmed as part of the event’s Covid-19 strategy, it sure sounds like a measure that will follow soon.

Answering another commonly asked question, he also confirmed that attendees will not be required to be vaccinated to gain entry to the event, and also shared about their partnership with Clear to implement the health and safety protocols.

Being one of the first festivals to return in 2021, a lot of people agree it seems to be a little too soon. The festival and Disco Donnie have been getting slammed on social media for the decision and facing a fair bit of slack, but this doesn’t seem to be hindering their plans.

While if there’s one thing we have learnt from last year, nothing is done till it’s done. So it remains to be seen if the festival is able to actually follow through on its promise and how safely they’re able to do so.
