Trader Joe’s has issued a recall for 500 units of its Sesame Miso Salad with Salmon after discovering the accidental inclusion of Parmesan cheese packets in place of crispy onion toppings.
The recall was announced on April 28, 2025, and affects salads sold in 18 U.S. states.
The packaging error introduced milk into a product that is not typically formulated with dairy ingredients. As milk is one of the top nine food allergens identified by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), its unintended presence poses a significant health risk to individuals with dairy allergies. No illnesses have been reported in connection to the recall at this time.
The affected product is identified by the SKU 77316 and has “Use By” dates of April 28, 2025, and April 29, 2025. It was distributed in the following states: Alabama, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, North Carolina, Nebraska, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Wisconsin.
Consumers who purchased the product are advised not to consume it if they or anyone in their household has a milk allergy. The recalled salads can be disposed of safely or returned to any Trader Joe’s location for a full refund. For additional information or questions, customers can contact Trader Joe’s Customer Relations at (626) 599-3817.
Trader Joe’s has not indicated whether additional batches are under review but emphasizes that the recall is limited to the specified SKU and dates. The company has updated store signage in affected locations and is working to prevent similar issues in the future.
