Walmart shoppers and snack fans have just hours left to claim their share of a $6.75 million class action settlement linked to certain recalled Quaker Oats products, no receipts required if you’re claiming for up to two items.
The final deadline to file is June 27, 2025, but don’t wait, as thousands are rushing to apply before the clock runs out.
The settlement stems from a class action lawsuit that accused Quaker Oats of deceptive marketing related to a massive recall over possible salmonella contamination. The recall involved 64 snack items sold under the Quaker brand, including popular names like Quaker Chewy Bars, Cap’n Crunch Treats, and Gatorade Protein Bars. Some Frito-Lay variety packs that featured Quaker bars were also affected.
The lawsuit, led by New Yorker Raymond Kessler, argued that Quaker misled customers by promoting these snacks as safe while they allegedly posed contamination risks. Even though Quaker hasn’t admitted to any wrongdoing, they’ve agreed to settle and pay out $6.75 million to resolve the claims.
Anyone who purchased the recalled snacks in the U.S. between the earliest sale date and March 13, 2025, is eligible to claim. The best part? No proof of purchase is needed to get paid for two items. You’ll receive an amount equal to the average retail price of those products, plus an extra 10% to cover sales tax. If you kept your receipts, you might be entitled to a full refund for however many recalled items you bought.
But there’s a catch, this only applies to individuals who bought the products for personal use. If you bought them for resale, you’re out of luck. And if you plan to claim for more than two items, you’ll need to show proof, like a detailed receipt showing time and quantity.
The settlement is available to claim on the official website, where you can also view the full list of affected products. As for Quaker, the company still maintains its snacks are safe and that its labels were never misleading. Still, this payout serves as a chance for shoppers to get compensated without jumping through hoops.
Other companies are also paying up. Clif Bar is shelling out funds from a $12 million labeling settlement. There’s also a $5.6 billion Visa Mastercard settlement and even a $7,500 payout from Bridgeway Center’s data breach case. Protective gear brand Magid Glove is settling for $5.175 million.
If you’ve bought any of the snacks listed and you haven’t filed your claim yet, time’s running out. It’s quick, easy, and could get you a bit of extra cash, no shopping receipt necessary.
