Europe is slowly awakening from its long slumber just in time for 2021’s incredible summer of fun and festivals.
According to countless media reports, the Government in the Netherlands hopes to allow festivals again from June 30th.
The iconic Tomorrowland festival is due to take place in Belgium on the same weekend as BigCityBeats WORLD CLUB DOME, a major international festival is scheduled to take place in Serbia at the beginning of July and Austria has just announced that major events can take place from August.
As well as the festival news, there are more reasons for the country to be happy. Covid cases are on the decline with Germany recording a new low of: 35.2 – the lowest figures since the previous autumn – and the numbers continue to fall.
Therefore it should come as no surprise that the global events industry has initiated the start button and as a result is expecting major events and open-air festivals to be held in all their splendor this summer.
Optimism has been further fueled following last week’s publication of a pilot study by Dutch-based group Fieldlab. Fieldlab was founded thanks to a collaborative effort between the events industry and the Dutch Government, and after evaluating 24 pilot events and a total of 60,000 attendees, Pieter Lubberts from the Fieldlab initiative said that; “many festivals could take place, even at maximum capacity”
Scientists and researchers have discovered that 99.9 percent of infections happen indoors, which means that open-air season can arrive safely this summer. It’s this research that gives us hope for September, and BigCityBeats wants to make history with WORLD CLUB DOME Las Vegas Edition becoming the first major event to take place in Germany since the pandemic began.
“We made absolutely the right decision by postponing the world’s largest club from June to September,” said Breiter, “Safety is paramount!. We have a huge area of forest, meadow, and a swimming pool – which combined are as large as 100 soccer fields – where the WorldClubbers can all stay safely together!” The open-air area of the Deutsche Bank Park (formerly Commerzbank-Arena) offers plenty of space to maintain safe distances.
“We will set up numerous test stations at the entrances,” said the CEO, “so that all of our guests are safe on the premises! Further German-wide test stations are planned. In addition, we will reduce the number of visitors accordingly in order to be able to generate adequate spatial clearance.” Scientific experts are currently working on a comprehensive security concept and Bernd Breiter has announced further details regarding the highly anticipated press conference scheduled for June 30th.
We are incredibly pleased that we can use the magnificent football stadium, the home of Eintracht Frankfurt. The main stage which offers space for more than 50,000 guests, also offers the added security and reassurance of an open and fully retractable roof.
Scientifically, an extensive Dutch study has shown that the risk of being infected outdoors is zero. Previous pilot projects carried out in the concert, live show, and cinema industry, which took place using a smaller audience, confirmed the low risk of transmission.
“With the Winter Edition in January 2020 we were (as fate determined) the last major event before the nationwide lockdown – and we want to be the first after lockdown ends on the first weekend in September,” said Breiter.
“We are in the final organizational phase with full manpower and are all looking forward to welcoming our treasured & loyal WorldClubber family back to the world’s biggest club on September 3rd, 4th, and 5th, 2021.”
